Please tell us where we stand here. Examples welcome, but I'm not sure that actual names can be used when quoting another FReeper, so date and thread title may be better.

The New Testament was written by Jews for Jews.

Only with Paul did YHvH extend the good news to gentiles.

Now that's just silly.

Very specifically: Romans 11 where Paul discusses who is grafted into whom.

NAsbU Romans 11:17 But if some of the branches were broken off,
and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them
and became partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree,

NAsbU Romans 11:19 You will say then, "Branches were broken off
so that I might be grafted in."
Paul warns against the pride of a Gentile follower of Yah'shua.

NAsbU Romans 11:22 Behold then the kindness and severity of God;
to those who fell, severity, but to you, God's kindness,
if you continue in His kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off.

NAsbU Romans 11:23 And they also, if they do not continue in their unbelief,
will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.

A Jew who comes to know the Jewish Messiah for their salvation
does not become a Christian,
They become a "called out one", a member of the Ekklesia.
They become a Messianic Jew.
The L-rd's name ( Shem ) is not je-zeus;
it is Yah'shua ( YHvH is my salvation )

Which is why you must call on His Name for salvation.
shalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiach Adonai

No, I’m not kidding. Protestants here are trying to point out the errors through scripture, not our ‘own opinion.’ We don’t hate you. I wouldn’t, and neither would other protestants here, put up with the flaming that goes on if we didn’t care sincerely about your eternal life and salvation. Believe what you like about us. It doesn’t really matter. We love you and we don’t want to see you go to hell because of wrong beliefs. I’m sorry if I made it ‘personal.’ I see a lot of projection going on.

What about the Gospel of St. Luke? And the Acts of the Apostles? I thought those were written in Greek by him.

There is evidence that Luke was not a Jew.

The New Testament was written by Jews for Jews.

Only with Paul did YHvH extend the good news to gentiles.

These two statements contradict each other. Even IF everthing except the Pauline Epistles were written "by Jews and for Jews," the reality is that Saint Paul's letters show an incredible focus on converting Gentiles to Christianity.

And then there is the question of the Gospel of Saint Luke and Acts. Saint Luke was for certain converted by Paul and many believe that he was probably a Gentile.

I believe most protestants here have said Catholics are Christians when they accept the Lord Jesus Christ by faith. Any problem with that? I believe the same and have said so. Not all Catholics or protestants are Christians unless they’ve done just that.

Through your own personal interpretation of Scripture.

Between Catholic and Protestant beliefs. Most people aren’t aware of the differences because they’ve never really inquired about them. I was ignorant of them until I became a FReeper.

The meaning of “co-redeemer” is quite clear, for those with eyes to see.

I think part of the problem some may have in accepting this term can be applied to Mary (and indeed all the Saints) is that many are under the mistaken impression that the prefix "co-" means "equal to". It does not. It merely means "with".

So, just as it's perfectly acceptable (and reasonable) for someone to describe any superior (even all the way up to the CEO of the company) at work as a "co-worker", it's also acceptable and reasonable to describe those who cooperate fully with God (Mary and the Saints) as His "co-redeemers" (i.e., "co-workers"). This doesn't elevate them to a status equal with God, it merely states they "work with him".

Also of note, and this is where the analogy between a co-worker at a job fails, those who cooperate with God fully (and therefore His co-redeemers), merely say "yes" to Him, at every opportunity given. That is, their role of "co-redeemers" stems directly from, flows directly from, His Power. IOW, the only thing they actually "do" on their own is say "yes".

But this "yes" is an act of cooperation, an act of acting *with* God, and thus, fulfills the basic requirement of what it means to be a "co-operator", or "co-redeemer".

Yes, it is your opinion. The Catholic Church interprets some portions of Scripture one way, you interpret it the other. Your belief as to what is true does not change the truth.

We don’t hate you.

YOU may not, but can you speak for all of the others?

I wouldn’t, and neither would other protestants here, put up with the flaming that goes on if we didn’t care sincerely about your eternal life and salvation.

I find that laughable.

Saint Luke was for certain converted by Paul and many believe that he was probably a Gentile.

Paul converted Luke to be a follower of the Messiah.

But there is no scriptural evidence that he was not a Jew.

Oh, and you know what MOST Christians believe? I think not. My thoughts on that is that most protestants don’t have a clue as to what others believe and don’t care. Some of us DO care and we face you with it, to the very best of our ability.

>>We love you and we don’t want to see you go to hell because of wrong beliefs.<<

Ah, but you see that if some posters here really loved the Catholics, then no matter how “nasty” a poster got, it would be handled with love. Flies to honey, so to speak.

I find it amazing that a Christian poster would get nasty at all, it happens on both sides. No matter what is done to that poster love should be strong but soft. Christ got beat, spit on and hung on a cross. I don’t really remember the passage that says, “Because they spit on him, he spit back.”

We hear, well the Catholics were nasty. My kids get nasty, do I get nasty back? No, what would they learn?

So instead of looking at the other side of the mirror, look at the mirror. If someone projects, that person looks bad. But when we get nasty back, we look bad.
