I can see a list in my head of anti-Catholic Freepers who are just squirming with excitement at the thought of this one.

possibly originating as an anti-papal satire. But Hollywood is taking it seriously and making it into a movie

The most pathetic thing about the "Pope Joan" myth is that it wasn't even a satire - it was most likely dolts misreading the abbreviation
Ioan. (abbreviation for
Iohannes) in some set of annals.
The first mention of such a notion is around 1300 - 450 years after this supposedly took place.

Hollyweird exercising its proclivity for anti-Christian, probably pre-lesbian, almost certainly anti-historical and written to be as ‘shocking’ as possible. I will be greatly suprised if the shock does not end up for the fools who finance this when it fails.

No, not really. I see it as more Hollyweird silliness, with about as much theological significance as an Ah-nold Swartzeneggar film about the rise of Antichrist. Most of them are just tone deaf about Christianity.

There’s already been a POPE JOAN movie, released in 1972 starring Liv Ullman. So this would be a remake.

I haven't known you to be anti-Catholic.
No, not really.
Are you saying I cannot see such a list?

But Hollywood is taking it seriously and making it into a movie, based on the Donna Cross book, which has all the accuracy of a Dan Brown novel. There's a difference between an historical drama and a documentary.
The book or film doesn't have to be "accurate" - it's fiction, after all - only good. Which is the real problem with Dan Brown's book.

Good grief. I am an American and a Catholic -- two affiliations that it's still permissible for Hollyweird to slander and bash to their hearts' content.
When does the revolution start? I'm ready.

Good Lord they could only attach John Goodman to play the pope? I don’t think we have anything to worry about.

So when is this one getting released? Good Friday? Christmas Eve? All Saints Day? Lol ... we should set up a lottery and let freepers select the 'feast' day on which this movie will be released.
