When Jesus said “I and my Father are ONE” it is not in purpose as the Mormons propose, but the Greek word means “in essence, in substance” —

I think you need to be familiar with the languages the OT and NT were written in —remember, English is a translation.

And...btw...Moses didn't converse with God “face to face” —God does not have a literal face, just as if he doesn't have wings (read Psalms) but the Hebrew work that is translated “face to face” means “in an intimate manner”....

We have had some days of rain too. This is a cool sunny day following the spring rain. There is nothing better, in the desert areas of the West. Rain is such a valued blessing.

God does not have a literal face.....

SURE HE does!

Just look!!!

17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!

Your mission, Mr. Phelps,  should you decide to take it, is to determine which one is which!

But doctrine of the church is not in error, so no, that is not possible. God allows men their free agency, but he doesn’t let them lead the church astray.

Seven, your "ecumenicalism" has advanced light years overnight. Here's we've been saying all along that God would not let the mainstream doctrine of the church fall into overwhelming error...nor would God allow the church to be led astray.

And you've come right out and confirmed our stance. (Thank you!)

Oh...I just realized...you were talking about the post 1830-OH-MO-IL-now Utah-based "church" and I was talking about both the pre-1830 and post-1830 universal church.

So explain it to us all again how it is that it's impossible (your words "not possible") for a Mormon leader to allow doctrinal error into the church, but when it came to the Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant church bodies, well, they were rife with error per Mormonism?

Then please further explain to us all again how it is that God suddenly got a backbone in the 19th century and to use your words, "doesn't let them lead the church astray," these past 175 years...
...but for the previous 1,500 years it was a "piece of cake" for God to not only allow leaders to have led the church astray, but he allowed the entire church to be carted off & hauled away by the forces of darkness...who apparently decided to take the church on a longggggg vacation while God busied himself with other hollowed worlds.

ALL: This is what we call a cultwashing "disconnect"--where all logic applied to the exact same situation undergoes a temp braindrain.

Bears repeating.

If God would not allow the church to be lead astray, then it was never in a state of "Total Apostasy"* and hence never needed to be "restored".

*If John the Apostle and the Three Nephites never died, then how was it that the authority of the church was taken from the earth? Of course that could possibly be explained if John and the Three Nephites were now residing inside the Hollow Earth.

Hollow Earth Ping to Gamecock.

Wait just a minute....I thought one of the mormons very cornerstones was that there was this great need for a RESTORED church...thus J. Smith's vision. Thus the BOM, thus all the bashing done by him and B. Young of Christian churches....

But you just said above that God would never lead the church astray. Why then would He need a restored anything?

Very curious and very sad there SB........

That make me feel much better, knowing that there is no great apostasy because God will not let the church go astray. I'll sleep much better knowing that.

I’m curious. I know nothing of the LDS other than what my church teaches: that they are heretics. They believe mine is the great and abominable church of the devil.
Tit for tat, I assume . . .

Anyway, who are those the 3 figures and what event is it supposed to represent?

The Guy on the ground is supposed to be Joseph Smith, a 14 year old future treasure hunter and occultic diviner, who is being visited by the "Heavenly Father" and Jesus who are telling him he shouldn't be a Methodist or a Presbyterian because their creeds were all an abomonination to them.

Now we don't know which one is the Father and which one was the Son, since they look identical. Now, Jesus got his body here on this earth, but The Father got his body when he was a Man, just like us, on another planet where he learned to be a god by slowing growing in obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel on the planet where he was born. That's pretty orthodox theology, don't you think?

Notice how both the Father and Jesus look a lot like pictures that you see occasionally of Joseph Smith. Well that is because Joseph Smith claimed to be a direct blood descendant of Jesus, but we're not sure if he was descended from Jesus' marriage to Mary, or Martha or Mary Magdaline. Jesus, of course was not only happily married but he was a practicing polygamist.

There I hope that helps. Now you can go and tell your pastor that he shouldn't call the LDS Church heretics, since they are just as orthodox as any Catholic or Protestant sect.

Here is MORE of the story....

 Galatians 1:6-9
 6.  I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel--
 7.  which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.
 8.  But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!
 9.  As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned! (niv)

ANYBODY???

Like this fine looking fellow???

2 Corinthians 11:12-15
 12.  And I will keep on doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about.
 13.  For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ.
 14.  And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.
 15.  It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve. (niv)

Like THESE guys??

17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!

Ephesians 2:1-2
As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,  in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

KJV 1 Corinthians 4:17
For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

KJV 1 Corinthians 11:2
Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

 KJV 2 Thessalonians 2:15
Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

KJV 2 Timothy 1:13
Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

KJV 2 Timothy 3:14-15
 14.  But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
 15.  And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
