Consider the following people in the sample who are workers in the religion industry in Utah in 2000:

- A 80 year old male (in 2000) with “Clergy” occupation classification who made $310,000 in salaried/wage income.
- A 47 year old male with “Accountant or Auditor” occupation classification who made $158,000 in salaried/wage income.
- A 73 year old male with a “Directors, Religious Activities and Education” occupational classification who made $133,900 in non-earned income (i.e. income other than from a salary or wages)

Note: Before you make any inferences, these people could live ANYWHERE in Utah and may be of ANY religion (religion is not an available variable, oh well). Due to privacy concerns, I don’t want to attempt to download family variables or other identifiers and make inferences. But consider this: what religion in Utah has an 80 year old clergyman on the payroll making $310,000 or have a $158,000 salaried auditor/accountant or a religious director who makes $134,000 from investments?

Brought to you by the 2000 US Census...

What is the wage of your Prophet and his Counselors?

Nice stats, care to verify before posting assumptions?

Ever been to President Monson’s home, the one he's lived in fro 40 years, before becoming President of the LDS Church? The one where he lived for decades while such a high member of the 12 and First Presidency?

I have. It's a rambler, small, brick, normal yard, older, normal neighborhood.

Ever seen Elder Perry pumping his own gas at a Maverick, into a small sedan?

I have, it reminded me of King Benjamin. Surely you remember his message before you left the Church.

Do you have anything to back up your assertions?

ANY church person receiving HOUSING from a church HAS to declare it's VALUE as INCOME!!

How much is a 8,000 sq ft penthouse in downtown SLC 'worth' these days?

My understanding is the the Prophet is not "paid" by the church neither are his councilors, however the "for prophet" (pun fully intended) enterprises owned by the church do pay their board members and officers out of their profits.

Thus, the Prophet is not paid by the church He does have offices and living quarters provided by the church so he does not have to go "home", but he is paid by businesses he oversees as either a member of the board or as an officer of that corporation. Thus no tithing argument can be made, also, while he has money coming in it is for the real work of sitting on a board and directing companies activities that are earning the money, not for preaching the Gospel.

I don't remember where I read up on this, so it may be wrong, anyone have a source?

BTW, no Mormon would ever be listed as "Clergy" we don't have that office.
