God and sex...

I remember when I was in high school, I had this friend (an atheist) who literally thought that the Bible forbade people to have sex (even married couples).
Boy, would he be surprised to find out that the Bible actually commands married couples to have sex regularly and often (I Corinthians 7:3-5)!

Since Mr. Treybig seems to have a direct channel open to God on the subject of sex, maybe he can ask him how he feels about birth control.
Many Christians are probably dying to know, especially since the largest Christian organization in the world says its forbidden.

God offers his best to us where satan offers his worst, something to remember.

If I ever marry again it will be to a Man who invites me into His Life, not a male who walks into my life. A Man who follows his spiritual being, not his animal being. A man who doesn't dishonor me or himself by asking for sex outside the Sanctity of marriage.. A man who can say “Eve, put down that damn apple!” would truly be a Loving Man. A Man who doesn't put me on a pedestal and call it Love when it's really Possession.. A man who doesn't Need me for anything, yet still wants to share the rest of his life with me. I know they're out there somewhere!

The Word advocates husbands and wives having sex, and does not prohibit preventative birth control.
It does prohibit abortion, or dialation & extration, or whatever the baby-killers are calling it these days.

One of my favorite quotes is from the secular (and bizarre) movie “Vanilla Sky” where Cameron Diaz has gone psycho on Tom Cruise after they’ve slept together and he’s now smitten with Penelope Cruise. As she’s about to drive them at high speeds off a cliff (?) she turns to him and says “When you sleep with someone, you make a promise with your body...” I was actually impressed that that spiritual truth came out of Hollywood! We know from scripture that sex makes two become one flesh so when casual sex rips you apart from partner to partner someone’s going to get hurt. Step out of God’s bounds and into disaster and heartache.

I once heard a priest put it in a much less complicated way, and rather beautifully:
“God intends this relation only for the creation of children on the bed of sacramental marital love.”

I think all Christians (Catholics and non-Catholics) can get a lot out of Pope John Paul II's
Theology of the Body. Even if there are somethings that you do not agree with I think there is a great deal that will be food for thought. He definitely gives a wonderful look into God's purpose for our sexuality.
