it's also wonderful to know that Christ can forgive anything.

Yes, His mercies are new every morning!

I once heard a priest put it in a much less complicated way, and rather beautifully:

“God intends this relation only for the creation of children on the bed of sacramental marital love.”

Although children are certainly a valid reason, I believe that it is also intended to foster and build a relationship, trust and bond between married couples.

“Put 5 woman and one man alone on an island and I don’t think marriage would come into play.”

“Depends.”

Yes, if they were Christians from Ethiopia (where Roman law did not influence early Christian practices) they would have no problem with polygamy. If they were Jews who knew what the Bible said about polygamy they would have absolutely no hang-ups about it either.

Oh if only Christians put this into practice they could still have lots of sex but they’d be having a lot more babies in Europe and in middle-America rather than being replaced by peoples who still know the joys hóf having big families.

the less sex the better...it is meant to pro-create and enjoy it at the same time. It becomes perverted even in marriage when it is done just for pleasure. Just try having more sex more often and see how your wife will not respect you much for it and may even hate you.

I think all Christians (Catholics and non-Catholics) can get a lot out of Pope John Paul II's Theology of the Body. Even if there are somethings that you do not agree with I think there is a great deal that will be food for thought. He definitely gives a wonderful look into God's purpose for our sexuality.

I think you and I are looking for the same thing, with the exception that I haven’t been married before. I’m hoping there’s a guy like that out there somewhere. It wouldn’t hurt if he was handsome too. ;)

However, these Christians and Jews would know that just because they were on the island together doesn't mean they are all married.

Easy for him to say; he's sworn off ever having it.

may as well face it...the more needy we are of a womans body, the less she will respect us and the more she can have control over us. Many a man can testify to the slavery of too much sex. And we should actually be outgrowing the need for it, for it is meant to have children with, not for our jollys.

That’s a great opinion you have there, but it’s not scriptural. God says for married couples to do it, and he doesn’t say that it’s only for procreation. Until you can actually prove likewise from the Scripture, I’m going to have to chock your opinion up to being gnostic and false teaching.

I am glad there is absolutely nothing in the Bible which supports this statement. And a whole book which contradicts it.

You are very smart to wait for what is right.. He wouldn't be anything other than handsome in your eyes.. regardless of what anyone else thinks.

LOL, you got a point there! However, he was very good looking and I imagine in his long career there were a few women who might have tried to put temptation in his way. Sexuality is a part of us, that we need to understand and harmonize with our way of life, even if we make a choice to be celibate.
