I need to get a new bible since the one I have makes no promises of carefree living or empowerment through wishful thinking. In fact, it promises the opposite. "In this world you will have trouble." John 16:33
What happens to someone who falls prey to this type of theology when the wheels fall off and wishful thinking no longer gets them through the day? They've been told that faith produces prosperity, so failure to prosper must be connected to failure of their faith. This type of gospel is one which then becomes jettisoned once things are no longer going your way. We do a grave disservice to "lure" people to faith this way, unless the truth of sin, troubles and justification through faith aren't preached right along with it. And I've never seen Osteen include any of that in his messages.
