(I, too, am "down on representative forms of government"; this is the traditional position of the Church

No, it is not. The Church's authentic position on politics is neutral to forms of government as long as they are based on the principle of subsidiarity. Moreover, the Scriptures canonized by the Church take a very ambiguous attitude toward human kingship.

Representative government is a liberal idea.)

Hardly. Absolutist monarchy is a thoroughly liberal concept, and is the reason why every leftist regime resorts to the effective absolutist monarchy of a dictatorship.

The Roman Republic, the Great Assembly Of Israel and Periclean Athens have been idealized models of polity among Christians in the West for millenia.

This is wonderful. OK, the vulgarians have free speech, but so do we. More of us should use it.

My sister is a senior at ND and was part of the walk out. They didn’t have to buy tickets, it was performed in a classroom that held about 250. At the beginning of the “play” there were about 170 persons attending. After the first monologue, about 40 people, mostly sitting in the front row, got up, left a letter explaining why they were protesting the play and left. The goal was to witness, but not disrupt. Although, with 40 people leaving, it did cause a stir.

They left the building and headed to the grotto to say the rosary. An old priest was just leaving while they were arriving. He asked what brough a large contingent out at that time and then asked if they were there because of the monologues. They said yes, and he asked if he could give them his blessing and thanked them for their witness.

No free speech for opposing points of view, but then that is typical.

Cool, I would remind the Good Father: Paul to the Romans, 1:23-27.

And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man--and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,

Who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.

Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; Being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; Who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them

What does the acronym TFP stand for? I've never heard of them.

Most Catholic college Presidents are so hung up on trying to appear 'sophisticated' and 'open-minded', that they fall all over themselves allowing this kind of garbage on campus.

Will do. Another sister led the protests against them while she was at Gonzaga. Our youngest sister is headed off to Hilsdale.....so she won’t have to deal with this issue. Neither did I. I went to TAC.
