This was while many Protestant churches in Germany put Mein Kampf on their altars alongside the Bible. Here is some interesting data showing who in Germany supported the Nazis and helped bring them to power:

The black areas are those with the highest concentration
of Catholics according to the 1934 census.

The black areas show the highest concentration of Nazi
votes in the 1932 election (white the lowest). [Note: the
NW portion of Germany consists of pimarily Reformed
believers.]
Here is another presentation of the data:

This map shows how different constituencies in Germany voted in the 1932 Reichstag
elections which brought Hitler to power. Elevation shows the Catholic/Protestant mix
(higher = more Catholics) and colour shows Nazi vote share (more red = higher Nazi
share of the vote). [Note: the NW portion of Germany consists of pimarily Reformed
believers.]

That map really illuminates the breakdown.
My Lutheran Bavarian (Munich) family was a Nazi supporter, and my Alsace-Lorraine Catholic family hated him. Alsace is on the Western Border with France.
One cannot slide past the facts.
