I still have to ask why anyone who isn’t Catholic would bother to take offense.

You don’t follow it so what’s the problem?

I don’t handle snakes and don’t care which sect does, so why is Benedict’s edict a problem for everyone else?

Who has taken offense? You don’t follow it so what’s the problem?

Why do you assume (falsely) that I have a problem? Or do you automatically assume that becasue I am not a Catholic I have no right to post something about the Catholic Church to see whatothers have to say? I don’t handle snakes and don’t care which sect does, so why is Benedict’s edict a problem for everyone else?

How did snake handling get into this? And who said anything about something being a problem for everyone else?

Take the chip off your shoulder and discuss the article's contents -- that's why it was posted.

“so why is Benedict’s edict a problem for everyone else?”

except this was not an “edict” from Benedict at all.
Benedict had nothing to do with this article.

This was a bunch of hullabaloo created by the media after an interview with a vatican official made statements about sin.
He was not trying to do away with any old list - not trying to replace anything with a new list.
He doesn’t have the authority to issue edicts either.
