1923 it was written.
Sort of reminds me of this bitter expose written against the John Birch Society in the early 60's. The book made fun of what were the supposed Communist goals for the nation as seen by the society.
By the time i read the book (found it in an old book store) in the early 90's, every one of those 'goals' were a matter of fact, and hardly noticed.
Same with Machen's work. Prophetic indeed.
