Baptisms for the Dead
Jesus Christ taught that baptism is essential to the salvation of all who have lived on earth (see John 3:5). Many people, however, have died without being baptized. Others were baptized without proper authority. Because God is merciful, He has prepared a way for all people to receive the blessings of baptism. By performing proxy baptisms in behalf of those who have died, Church members offer these blessings to deceased ancestors. Individuals can then choose to accept or reject what has been done in their behalf.

"" Jim Robinson has already addressed the discussion on this forum. HERE:" "Un-American? America was founded on the concepts of liberty and freedom, including freedom of religion, freedom of the press and freedom of speech. There is nothing un-American about criticizing candidates or any facet of their lives including their personal philosophies or their religious beliefs. It's a guaranteed freedom. Perhaps the RINO Romney and his supporters would prefer living in a closed society where criticism and free speech are not allowed? If a candidate can't take the heat, he should stay out of the kitchen! 118 posted on 12/26/2007 9:23:33 PM MST by Jim Robinson"
I never really considered Jim Robinson to be a gold standard about anything and really don't care what he or his fellow jihadists here think about my faith.
Pride preceedeth the fall, and even Hitler would have had his day in court had he not chosen to hide. The targetted vitriol swill that flows so freely here is a facade for bigotry disguised as "free speech," the interference of which, by the way, is prohibited only by governments. So-called" "free speech" truly is a two edged sword.
Go ahead and delete this post if you dare, and thereby prove my point concerning your purported love of "free speech...."

Calling Jim Robinson and the rest of us "Jihadists" is clearly a personal attack - and not a very wise one at that.
I will not delete your post, but I will suspend you.

Some idiots never learn. Funny thing though he was a very useful idiot in his portrayal of the base mentality of certain of the attackers found on FR. I guess some of the really dumb ones are left here to provide daily humor.

Twisting the bible into agreeing with what I DIS-believe is EASY! I am just following the fine example set by you anti Mormon Caballers : ) I simply quote what the bible says, do you have a problem with that?
So are you a women or not?
To: Maelstorm
Jesus Christ taught that baptism is essential to the salvation of all who have lived on earth (see John 3:5).Indeed. . .baptism in the Spirit, not water. Water baptism is a picture of that. (John the Baptist said, "I baptise you with water, but there is one coming after me that will baptise you with the Holy Ghost and with fire.)
By performing proxy baptisms in behalf of those who have died, Church members offer these blessings to deceased ancestors.
Ridiculous. If someone wasn't saved when they died, dunking another person in water isn't going to change that.

You seem to be taken at determining my gender. I was taken to task for calling you a women. You made a comment that implied that you were treated better if you were female. It seems to me that you are trying to have it both ways. Or maybe you are both?
How wide is your stance?
About shoulder width. Why?
To: LeGrande
You made a comment that implied that you were treated better if you were female. Read better - I 'implied' nothing. I stated it as FACT.

See where it says that in effect this is the end of the book, there isnt any more coming so dont look for it The first place it says that is in the book of Deuteronomy.
Are we to disregard everything past that?

No, the Doctrine of the Trinity is found in the Bible, although that word is not used The doctrine of the trinity was explained and defended by Tertullian, a respected early scholar, in his treatise "Adversus Praxean".
It is the definitive explanation accepted by "Christians". In that same treatise he declared his allegiance to the prophet Montanus, Pricilla, and Maximilla who wrote a "New Prophecy" where he got the doctrine.
