Baptisms for the Dead
Jesus Christ taught that baptism is essential to the salvation of all who have lived on earth (see John 3:5). Many people, however, have died without being baptized. Others were baptized without proper authority. Because God is merciful, He has prepared a way for all people to receive the blessings of baptism. By performing proxy baptisms in behalf of those who have died, Church members offer these blessings to deceased ancestors. Individuals can then choose to accept or reject what has been done in their behalf.
No what I said is that you seem to believe Mormon doctrine, and not your own.
Small children do not have the capacity to understand what Christ did for them and therefore, up to a certain age of understanding, are not held accountable for their sin nature and do not go to hell when they die. They are incapable of knowingly accepting Christ as their Savior.
That is Mormon doctrine, except that it is generally stronger, you are a little mealy mouthed about it. Luke warm shall I say?
You ridicule Scripture and consider it to be humorous because you don't believe it's true and you don't think it applies to you.
That's right, but not just to me, are you worried about the Koran?
You exposed your feelings for God with the last comment you made on your first post. Don't expect me to take you seriously now.
Now you understand how I take you religious nut cases : )
>>The elect are people he has selected for a purpose, but anyone can accept Grace.<<
My above post covers that.
I really like the ESV. It’s a literal word-for-word translation, rather than the NIV which translates ideas and phrases.
>>Why go through the effort and endure the cross?<<
To be obedient to the Father. The sacrificial lamb still needed to be slaughtered in order for the elect to have their salvation. The law needed to be fulfilled. The Strongman needed to be bound. His sheep needed to be gathered. Christ’s prayer to the Father in the garden show this.
>>What would be the point of evangelism?<<
1) Since we don’t know who is to be saved, only God does.
2) Obedience to the Great Commission
>>Why argue with Jonah if fate was predetermined?<<
To test Jonah’s obedience.
>>Why create people and reject them?<<
For His glory (Isaiah 43:7)
>>Why allow original sin if there is no free will?<<
Free will is a myth that is largely over-used. We have a will, but for the lost that will is in bondage to sin and will always make sinful, selfish decisions.
We can make our decisions, but God is sovereign over his creation. I may wish to be taller, wealthier, slimmer, etc - but only God can determine the outcome:
“The heart of man plans his way,but the LORD establishes his steps.” - Proverbs 16:9
“The kings heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will.” - Proverbs 21:1
It was God who hardened Pharoh’s heart. It was God who shut the door of the Ark. It is God who changes our hearts from stone to flesh. It was God’s will to deliver or not deliver the heathen nations into the hands of the Israelites.
He’s either sovereign over all his creation, or he’s not.
>>It would be a great thread if you are interested, but it may be a few days before I can put a lot of effort into it.<<
Sure thing, I’d love to. “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” We’re meant to study and discuss these things for our mutual edification. Just FReepmail me.
I honestly don't know if or when Abraham and Moses were born again do you? Being born again is a New Testament doctrine, are Jews born again?
And of course who were Jacob and Isaac? ;^)
I am pretty certain that I know who they are : ) You are pretty proud of yourself catching me in that error aren't you? It has been over twenty years since I have held a Bible in my hands. I am beating up on you 'christians' with dim and feeble memories. There was a time I could quote scripture and verse, but years of disuse have taken that away :)
If I recall correctly that is where you jumped in trying to defend your doctrine of original sin. Where little Children who die are condemned to an eternity of hell. Isn't that correct?
Are you into repeating posts? Does dementia run in your family? And how did she take a dirt nap from one of her followers? She died in the place of someone else?
The last book in the Bible is not the last written manuscript in the Bible.
The Bible is a collection of manuscripts and is not in chronological order!
So each manuscript is a revelation for that particular book not the whole collection!
Than you are calling the Holy Ghost a liar!
They can’t be good people and worship the devil at the same time!
Jesus even proclaims that those who are of the Lord do good works in the Name of Jesus Christ.
those are of the devil bad mouth those who do good work!
**And how did she take a dirt nap from one of her followers? She died in the place of someone else?**
No, she died from one of her followers who killed her and her family when they looted the atheist organization’s bank account, converted it into gold and was preparing to head for NZ.
He got caught.
I never brought up the doctrines of original sin on this thread. Someone else did.
You brought up the subject of the frog leading an army.
It shows that you, being an x mormon have about as much Bible knowledge as the typical Mormons I have been acquainted with which is nil.
****This is your prediction. Joseph Smith prophesied that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints would continue to grow as the stone cut without hands until it filled the earth. See you in couple of centuries to determine who was right.****
The followers of Arius (Arians)controled most of Asia, Europe (except Italy), Spain and Africa. Where were they two hundred years later? Gone. Your church will go the same route.
We don’t need new prophets.
2Ti 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
This was written before the BOM ever showed up on the scent 1900 years later.
And this is why we ignore all so-called later “prophets” claims to importance.
2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2Ti 2:16 But shun profane [and] vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
If it doesn’t fit Bible doctrines- it doesn’t fit.
ping
will do. thanks.
If it doesnt fit Bible doctrines- it doesnt fit.

My remarks are out of the New Testament of the Bible.
You may not think our prophets are the true prophets, but please answer this in general.
Heavenly Father warned us about false Christs, false prophets, and false teachers.
As I see it, if there was to be no prophets or teachers, it would have been written something about there being false Christs, and no prophets, and no teachers.
Mormons are pretty unusual.
all this has shed some light on things I never knew
guess you have to be born into it to get it
+++++++++++++++
I studied it from the outside, then from the inside.
I get it.
concerning prophecy..
St Paul wrote these words when the church was still forming and prophecy was with us.
Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
1Cr 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether [there be] prophecies, they shall fail; whether [there be] tongues, they shall cease; whether [there be] knowledge, it shall vanish away.
In his last letters to Timothy he shows us we are to rely on SCRIPTURE.
2Ti 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
2Ti 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Again this was 1800 years before the BOM.
Can you be more specific? Where was it said, and who said it? Where can I find it in the Bible?
