No surprise. Oliver Cromwell banned the celebration of Christmas for a time in the UK.
It's sure not easy to stand for something when tradition and culture are going the other way.
I think the presents we give and receive on Christmas are but a pale imitation of the SUPREME gift of Eternal Life that we receive each and every day through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
As long as I think of the gifts in those terms I dont’ have a bit of a problem with it.
A Scots Presbyterian worked for me for many years. She never did much for Christmas. New Years Day was the big holiday for her family when they gathered in someone's home to celebrate.
I knew that the English Puritans didn't celebrate Christmas, but I never thought about the Scots. Now I understand why she never made a fuss about Christmas. By the way, whe was the hardest working and most trustworthy employee I ever had. I wish I had a dozen like her, but I never found anybody with her sense of work and decication.
So does the church that you also attend, also reject Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ?
**Christians like the United Church of God reject the holiday: **
I don’t see how they can call themselves Christians then>

It is Pagan. Christmas ( December 25 ) is not scriptural.
It is a commeration of the birth of Jesus Christ, nevertheless.
Christmas is okay, but I could do without all the shopping, spending, wrapping, decorating, cooking, get-togethers, and stress.
A Christmas without all that stuff would be so refreshing, and might give us a chance to actually stop and think about the meaning of Christmas.
Then they should observe it at the proper time....during the fall Festivals.

A Puritan is someone who is deathly afraid that someone somewhere is having fun.
Their loss, my gain!
Certainly we're not in step with "traditional" Christianity on the issue, but we're certainly in line with biblical Christianity and early protestantism.
Thanks for the link Chuck...appreciated.
Thanks for the links here too...
Unfortunately one Christmas like that and our nation would fall into a massive recession.
Maybe we should all celebrate Christmas in July by blasting off fireworks and then celebrate our great nation and our prosperity by spending billions of dollars buying gifts for all our relatives and friends at the end of the year.
Tep - that one’s hard to beat.
