Dear reader, what child is this?
The LDS Christmas Story was gathered and compiled from the teachings of Mormon Church leaders.
1- It speaks of a Father and Son who are not found in the Biblical narrative of Christ's birth.
2- It brings the sad news that our salvation depends upon our own righteousness instead of the perfect righteousness of Jesus.
3-The gift God gave that night, according to the LDS Christmas story, provided resurrection to judgement for all the world and an example to follow in order to make oneself worthy of the highest heaven.
Yet God tells a different story.
4- He says it is impossible for us to be worthy of heaven on our own merit; all have sinned and our righteousness is as filthy rags before Him.
5- But the blessed Gift God gave to us on that marvelous holy night was no less than His Promise fulfilled.
6- Jesus Christ--God incarnate--had come, not to show us the way, but to be the Way.
7- He came to a world dead in sin to give us life eternal.
8- Let all who are alive in Christ echo Mary's song, "My spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior."

Luke 1
35 And the angel answered and said unto her,
The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee,
and the power of the Highest (Heavenly Father) shall overshadow thee:
therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
One really should study the Lord"s Covenant with the aid of the Holy Ghost.
As I understand the atonement of Jesus Christ has paid for all the sins in the universe before, now, and future, or all that who were and are and shall be born are saved accept the Sons of Perdition!
Your degree of glory or reward all depends on how you lived your life
2 John
7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
12 Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
13 The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.
Matt. 10:
41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophets reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous mans reward.

Luke 1
5 ¶ THERE was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
***
1 John 3
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
Matt. 5:
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
***
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Ponder this and the scriptures will testify if you are earnestly striving to do the will of your Lord Jesus Christ it is impossible to remain filthy
The LDS take Sacrament just about every week to wash off the dirt from the world that occure during the week. It is a way of Strengthening the armor of the Lord.
Rev. 22:
11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

Eph 5
1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
I am thoroughly confused. Are you arguing against the
author’s stance or agreeing with it?
If one allows the Spirit of the in their heart one will see in the scriptures many area where Jesus talks about his Father in Heaven and he is the Son of God.
I don’t need to argue when the Word itself affirm it.
thank you
Well, knowing with these threads, you make a them a time of devotion, so I'm not sure if it matters to you for me to point out a serious problem with scripture, a contradiction, according to what your espousing. So to respect to your wishes, let me "devote" some time to reflect on what scripture says?
Isaiah 41:4 Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.
Who is this?
Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
Who is this?
Isaiah 48:12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.
Who is this?
Revelation 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last
Who is this?
Revelation 2:8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
WHOA!!! Who is this? And when was The first and the Last ever dead?
Is Jesus saying God was dead?
I’m confused at this thread. It’s labeled LDS Caucus, but an article from an anti-LDS web site.
It is a Caucus thread meaning I would like to encourage cordial diologue “anybody can one up’em”, but if one were to apply the commandments set for us by our Lord Jesus Christ we would have to let go of our natural man nature towards one another!
Good point! And I would like to add by applying those commandments to adhere to the spiritual man gives us a further responsibility to accept the whole TRUTH.
I would be interested to know your thoughts are about what I posted in #11?
BTW, sorry for all the typo's in that post...a grammeratical travesty which still haunts me since the 4th grade. ;-)
I really don't understand what you are trying to say.
God is eternal
In all those scriptures, who is the "first and the last?"
In all those scriptures, who is the “first and the last?”
Sound like One Eternal round or Alpha and Omega!
D&C 35
1 Listen to the voice of the Lord your God, even Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, whose course is one eternal round, the same today as yesterday, and forever.
2 I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who was crucified for the sins of the world, even as many as will believe on my name, that they may become the sons of God, even one in me as I am one in the Father, as the Father is one in me, that we may be one.
Ok, so its' God. My point is simply Jesus calls himself the first and the last in Rev 2:8. He is the one speaking in that verse referring to himself, as God. So Jesus is God. Yes, he is defined with the name "The Son Of God", but literally Jesus is God incarnate.
Another interesting verse you bring up, which I guess you're referring to the D&C ( Doctrine & Covenants)is taken directly from this verse: John 10:29 - 30 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and the Father are one."
Jesus is definately telling the Jews he is God. Why do I know this, because the Jews say so...Matthew 10:31-33 31 Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him, 32 but Jesus said to them, "I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?" 33 "We are not stoning you for any of these," replied the Jews, "but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God." The Jews do not say that Jesus claims to be the Son Of God, but God himself as Jesus himself claims to be in many verses.
What I'm trying to point out is there are definate verses where Jesus claims to be God. And you have to ignor these verses and Jewish religious culture to not understand the definate claim he makes.
Jesus has many "names", "The Son Of God" is just one them. The Way, The Truth, The Life, Alpha & Omega, The eternal One, The First and The Last, ect...All are interchangable and synonomous with GOD.
I still don’t know what you are getting at of course Jesus is part of the Godhead.
Colossians 2
Fulness of Godhead dwells in ChristBeware of deceit by traditions of men
1 For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
5 For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
I am sorry I missed understood you opening statement I thought it said “no” and when I read it later is was “so”.
I had an eye operation and still need to get the glasses which will be a while because of $$.
One part of Jesus mission when he came to earth was to do the will of his Father in Heaven and than he came into his own as also the scriptures testify.
John 8:
16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.
19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.
27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.
39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abrahams children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
***
He also tells us if we keep His Commandment we too will recieve and become “join heirs” we will never be part of the Godhead but we will have all of the gifts as offpsprings.
Romans 8
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
