The Other Christ: Padre Pio and 19th Century Italy, by the historian Sergio Luzzatto, draws on a document found in the Vatican's archive.

The document reveals the testimony of a pharmacist who said that the young Padre Pio bought four grams of carbolic acid in 1919.
"I was an admirer of Padre Pio and I met him for the first time on 31 July 1919," wrote Maria De Vito.
She claimed to have spent a month with the priest in the southern town of San Giovanni Rotondo, seeing him often.
"Padre Pio called me to him in complete secrecy and telling me not to tell his fellow brothers, he gave me personally an empty bottle, and asked if I would act as a chauffeur to transport it back from Foggia to San Giovanni Rotondo with four grams of pure carbolic acid.
"He explained that the acid was for disinfecting syringes for injections. He also asked for other things, such as Valda pastilles."
The testimony was originally presented to the Vatican by the Archbishop of Manfredonia, Pasquale Gagliardi, as proof that Padre Pio caused his own stigmata with acid.
It was examined by the Holy See during the beatification process of Padre Pio and apparently dismissed.
Padre Pio, whose real name was Francesco Forgione, died in 1968. He was made a saint in 2002. A recent survey in Italy showed that more people prayed to him than to Jesus or the Virgin Mary. He exhibited stigmata throughout his life, starting in 1911.
The new allegations were greeted with an instant dismissal from his supporters. The Catholic Anti-Defamation League said Mr Luzzatto was a liar and was "spreading anti-Catholic libels".
Pietro Siffi, the president of the League, said: "We would like to remind Mr Luzzatto that according to Catholic doctrine, canonisation carries with it papal infallibility.
"We would like to suggest to Mr Luzzatto that he dedicates his energies to studying religion properly."
Since Mary's sinlessness is the work of Christ through grace, what you have effectively just said is that Christ's work takes our eyes off Christ.
Blessings on you and yours.shalom b'shem Yah'shua
Sounds awfully cut and dried the way you explain it. In those terms, it doesn’t matter what you pray for because it’s only the attitude that counts and your prayer won’t change anything anyway. I gather you don’t see any real point to petitionary prayer, or indeed — in logic — of making any effort to achieve any end. If it’s God’s will, it will be done. If not, it won’t.
"Do whatever HE tells you."
You for got the translation.... “I’m saved, I can do anything I want!”
Sorry; I forgot the ;-)
When things get dull at the rectory, Father Hannigan always
gets a kick out of putting his hand into
Father Rozinsky's side stigmata.
No, what I am annoyed by are pinhead Protestants who disrupt Catholic threads to satisfy their ego or their spleen. Don't pretend that you're doing something important here, because you're not. If you're interested in saving souls, I suggest you begin by trying to convert those (and they are legion) who believe in neither God nor Christ, rather than harassing Catholics who believe in both.
Take your anti-Catholic bigotry elsewhere.
Lol and thank you!
Who died and left you Mod?

Do not seek the world.
Deuteronomy 32:35 'Vengeance is Mine, and retribution,
In due time their foot will slip; For the day of their
calamity is near,
And the impending things are hastening upon them.'
Christ redeems personally and specifically, not through some institution, but by God's grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone.
I have gone to many for advice on the Scripture.
Maybe just try reading the Bible on your own. God didn't intend that all men had to read Hebrew or Greek to understand Christ has paid for the sins of His flock. It's just not that difficult.
And those who say it is difficult are needlessly obscuring the truth at their own peril.
"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." -- 1 Corinthians 1:18
"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." -- John 16:33 "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" -- Phil. 1:6
Just expressing my opinion. But it's pretty clear what type of person finds "humor" in your post.
Iscool told me to do something very similar.
What's funny is that I do read the Bible on my own, and I come up with very Catholic conclusions.
Those conclusions aren't acceptable to you, or to him. That leads me to believe that your mantra is "study the Bible on your own" if you think that can lure someone away from the Catholic church, but the real objective is "study the Bible the way I do, and come up with conclusions exactly like mine ... or else I'll denounce you as a heretic".
That means you really are just trying to lure your victims into exchanging one Pope (the one in Rome) for another (you and your buddy, John Calvin).
Christ redeems personally and specifically, not through some institution, but by God's grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone.
For example, most of this is not in the Bible. Jesus specifically founded a _church_ (a "called-out assembly") -- he said so -- and he said nothing about redeeming anyone except as members of his flock. We're called to be sheep, not lone wolves.
The only use of the phrase "by faith alone" in Scripture, is in James, and is preceded by the word "not".
What is "faith alone in Christ alone"? You've removed God the Father and God the Holy Spirit from the picture, too?
“I am unworthy!”
Tut, tut, my good man!
maryz: “If its Gods will, it will be done. If not, it wont.”
I agree absolutely with this statement! If God is sovereign, this must be true.
As we mature in Christ and are sanctified, our prayers reflect the will of God more closely. Fortunately, God’s will is worked out through His creation and creatures. God uses us (especially His chosen people) to bring about His purposes.
From our perspective, our prayers can have a cause/effect relationship.
Naw, I have no interest in Googling this term. I will look it up in the Catechism.
Interestingly enough, when I do a search for “redemptrix” or “co-redemptrix” in the Catechism...nothing comes up.
Quite so. And that's one of the many reasons why we can't rely on written Scriptures alone. You yourself said it well with the quote you selected:
"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." -- 1 Corinthians 1:18
Many are the saved who have never read a word of Scripture, never read a word of anything, let alone interpreted it. They learned about God through other people who are in Christ--- through preaching --- through the Church.
Do you think it was pointless, useless, unnecessary, for Christ to build this Church, and in it to appoint some --- but not all --- as teachers?
