It's a funny thing, those golden plates were found in upstate New York. The LDS Church owns the site and has an expensive visitor center there and a huge "pageant" that reinacts it's own history every year.

Joseph Smith himself said that he found a cave on the very Hill Cumorah where he found the golden plate (the Book of Mormon) with artifacts...swords, shields, etc. Yet the LDS Church has never excavated the hillside. Isn't it marvelous that their faith is so strong that they won't even LOOK for evidence? LOL
