First, let me set the stage. The verse which follows is spoken by Jesus to His disciples just before His ascension, thus we may discern that this promise is an everlasting promise indeed!

Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. [King James Version]

American Standard Version
28:20 teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.

Bible in Basic English
28:20 Teaching them to keep all the rules which I have given you: and see, I am ever with you, even to the end of the world.

Darby's English Translation
28:20 teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have enjoined you. And behold, *I* am with you all the days, until the completion of the age.

Douay Rheims
28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.

Noah Webster Bible
28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world. Amen.

Weymouth New Testament
28:20 and teach them to obey every command which I have given you. And remember, I am with you always, day by day, until the Close of the Age."

World English Bible
28:20 teaching them to observe all things which I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

Young's Literal Translation
28:20 teaching them to observe all, whatever I did command you,) and lo, I am with you all the days -- till the full end of the age.`

From the teaching by Jesus, in His words, He tells His disciples and us down through the ages that He, as He is about to ascend into Heaven, will never leave them or us or forsake them or us even unto the end of the world. By His Holy Spirit He has kept this promise. The founding principle of Mormonism as taught by Joseph Smith and the Mormon church ever since Smith’s time is that somehow this promise failed and God had to ’restore’ what Jesus promised He would never allow to His Church. That ‘restoration necessary’ is the greatest lie and therefore contradiction to the Bible one can dig from Mormonism.

Thank you so much for sharing your insights and for the many translations of that beautiful Scripture!

Indeed, it is rather humorous to think that mere creatures - whether physical or spiritual - could thwart God's will.

Remember the former things of old: for I [am] God, and [there is] none else; [I am] God, and [there is] none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times [the things] that are not [yet] done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: - Isaiah 46:9-10

Praise God!!!

Ah!

I see your problem!

Are you so SURE that verse is TRANSLATED correctly???

You see, JS was in the process of 'correcting' the KJV, that's why we have the JST.
