The chant is said to be a human imitation of the chants of angels used in the Orthodox liturgy as an interlude between readings.

An angelic chant. Beautiful.

(Makes me think of the concept of, “All night, all day, angels watchin’ over me, my Lord” though sleeping and marching into battle are different, angelic assistance is constant.}
