Dang missed it, will have to catch tomorrow’s session. Thanks for the reminder.
Holland’s talk in the afternoon session was absolutely AMAZING.
Absolutely! Best talk today.
I brought my family up from AZ to SLC to attend conference. We only had 2 tickets for the Priesthood Session and 3 tickets for tomorrow afternoon's session. Today, my wife, my son, and I stood in the standby lines. Hours in the freezing rain and we didn't get in either time. The sessions were packed. We caught the AM session in the Tabernacle, but it wasn't the same as being in the Conference Center (which is an AWESOME experience that I recommend to everyone.) We didn't get in the afternoon session and decided to go back to the hotel to pick up my girls and come back for Priesthood Session. The girls went with my wife to the Ladies Night event with Deseret Books that was held this year on the 9th Floor of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. They had a great time with mini-concerts, book signings, and some contests (they won a clock). The Priesthood Session was really great too. I love coming up here for General Conference. I was so blessed to be able to come up 3 years ago and had wonderful experience. This time is different, but also a spiritual experience.
I can't wait until the broadcasts are available for download. When they are up, I download them to my media player so that I can watch them whenever or wherever I am. Awesome stuff. We are so blessed to have a living Prophet and Apostles who give us counsel twice a year like this.
I stood up and CHEERED at the end of Elder Holland’s talk (I was in my basement, so I didn’t make a scene).
It was so refreshing to hear clear, true doctrine stated so brilliantly...something that some other denominations can only dream of.
I thought Elder Nelson's talk on the scriptures of the Restoration was almost as good. Good stuff!
Yes. There was no doubt in my mind about Christ when Elder Holland spoke. He spoke with authority and the Spirit. It was a very powerful experience.
I remember many years of standing in line to see and listen to General Conference in the tabernacle. We would be seated in the balcony and those ushers would say “Move over! We can get one person on this row.” Wonderful memories. When my sister came home from her mission, we got tickets to General Conference. They ended up being tickets for the families of the general authorities. Soft seats right to the north, underneath the balcony.
Conference in the Conference Center is wonderful also. I’ve been privileged to have tickets a few times for conference. Our stake also had tickets to the General Women’s meeting last week. That was truly wonderful.
I was a little disappointed when the tickets I got meant that the only session I could attend this time was the Priesthood Session. After attending last night, I found that I was not disappointed. Where else can you find such a large and more powerful group of men and young men holding the Priesthood? It really was powerful.
We're going to be leaving SLC tonight for the 16-hour drive back home tomorrow morning. On the way, we're going to get a family photo in front of the SLC Temple. The one we took 3 years ago is our most treasured family photo. We thought we'd try for another one as the kids have got so much older in the last 3 years (the baby is in Kindergarten now, etc.)
The transcripts are scheduled to be up on Thursday. Those will go into my PDA so that I can read them anywhere I'm at. I'll post links.
There's some really dedicated and talented people behind General Conference. There are literally hundreds of "Guest Services" people all over the Conference Center and Temple Square. You can't hardly walk 20 feet without running into 2 or 3 of them. All are very helpful and I'm sure that almost every one of them is a volunteer. The broadcast is top-notch with simultaneous translation into at least a dozen languages. The website is updated within hours with the audio and video. Excellence, all around.
I was so pleased with Elder Henry B. Eyring & Elder Quentin L. Cook and the media during the intermission!

As young women in high school, we’d always walk by the tabernacle as the men were singing in the Priesthood session. Such a powerful spiritual experience to hear you all sing. Praise to the man is one I remember vividly.
The talks are also published Thursday on lds.org.
