Whoa!!
We are not in the RELIGION area (yet).
Does this rule apply EVERYWHERE on FR???
There are many here who take this kind of thing very "personally." The tax-exempt and poorly-funded FR appears to foster hate speech in which "Mormons" continuously are accused of things they do not believe and have no connection to.
The fact that I am by no means a minority of one is worthy of your notice, as is the fact that FR's behavior is of interest to other conservative cyber-, print, and broadcast media.
My advice to FR is to not continue the process of waking a sleeping tiger. I can walk away from all of this if I choose, or if I am "banned," but the FR already and irretrievablly has fired the first round in an engagement in which it will not prevail
I haven't the time or the inclination to wage war with a dying blog, but there exist many others who do and have the capability of making FR's unpleasant encounters with the NY and LA Times trivial by comparison. No threat here, but, instead, some useful information that you surely were not aware of.
An apology from the ownership of the FR and a more even-handed application and enforcement of its own stated policies -- e.g. religious "flame-fests" being diverted to the Religion forum -- seems in order...
It becomes personal when people tell outright and hateful lies about my religious beliefs and leaders. It becomes personal when they denigrate the very things that I hold most sacred. It becomes personal when I and my LDS FReeper friends are harassed and subjected to open bigotry, intolerance, and hatred on this site. If the Religion Forum and religion-related discussion on Free Republic can't be mutually respectful of each other's religions, then they serve as a source of division and contention, and they damage the overall mission of this conservative forum. There is an overriding purpose and mission for this forum and it isn't religious arguments and flamewars. If such activity detracts and distracts from the overall mission, then it should be discontinued. You as Religion Moderator can have a positive effect upon changing the nature of religious discussion here from being something that is exclusive and divisive to something that is unifying and supports the overall conservative mission of this website.
I've told you before that I have many conservative LDS friends who have seen and experienced the bigotry that goes on all the time here against Mormons, and they will have none of it and have not joined or have left in disgust. If the nature of the religious arguments on this forum makes a significant segment of the overall conservative population feel unwelcome or offended, then you're doing this site and its mission a disservice by letting it continue.
Your choice, of course. But I felt again that I had to voice my concerns.
