Mormon ousted as an apostate
East Valley Tribune—Phoenix, AZ, MSNBC ^ | Sept 23, 2007 | Lawn Griffiths

Posted on 09/24/2007 8:16:13 AM PDT by colorcountry

Being excommunicated for apostasy by the Mormon church is one thing, but Lyndon Lamborn is livid that his stake president has ordered bishops in eight Mesa wards to take the rare step of announcing disciplinary action against him to church members today. "I thought if he could go public, so can I," said Lamborn, a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who said his research into church history gave him "thousands of reasons the church can't be what it claims to be."

Stake President R. James Molina acknowledged Friday he intends to have Lamborn's excommunication announced to the wards at men's priesthood meetings and womens Relief Society gatherings, even with Lamborn now taking his case public. Molina, as well as officials at church headquarters in Salt Lake City, call such a public warning about an ousted member extremely rare. They say, however, church members must be protected from what discordant ex-followers may say to damage the church...................

The problem is, our detractors like to take isolated quotes from the JoD. The apologists tend to do a tad more research. One quick example: if you believed everything that is written in the JoD, you would have to conclude that LDS doctrine is that Adam is God. It’s written right there, in a speech given by Brigham Young. The apologist will point out that this quote directly contradicts teachings given by Young on many other occasions, and therefore the logical conclusion within this context is that either Young misspoke or the transcription is inaccurate.

But you have to look at more than isolated sentences here or there to come to such a conclusion. This sort of thing is why the JoD is not in the LDS canon. Not everything therein is true.

Or like Joseph Smith said "a prophet is not always a prophet, but "only when he was acting as such" elsewise he is just like every one else.

My self I loved reading BY stuff it must have been interesting in those days when it was a hot summer day trying to keep folks attention, so he would say things that keep them on the edge of their chairs to make sure they received the heart of the message.

He has a gift to make people think and reason as well what the spirit had to say at times. The fact that it was not a devotional, but discourses. Teaching folks how to Ponder and than go back to the drawing board and studies scriptures and pray over it!

Histories book are not always factual or accurate but are a good source to work from as one does their scripture studies and see if is edible or to be edified.

He will be among one of the many gatekeepers of the Lord!

SOMEone doesn't know their Bible!!

Revelation 21:21-27
 21.  The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass.
 22.  I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
 23.  The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.
 24.  The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.
 25.  On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there.
 26.  The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it.
 27.  Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Why do you suppose you get so few people who take your posts seriously?

Because the Truth of the Universe is gnawing at their belief system?

My understanding of Hebrew...is that the Commandment say's "Thou shall not murder"...not "Thou shall not kill."

Big difference in my opinion.

The definition can be even broader, if you are judging according to the degree of sin.

1 John 3:15 (New International Version)

15Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him.

The disgust quotient is off the charts ... the reality of mormonism eventually sinks in and people don’t want any more of the whirling dervish dance.

As an aside, Marie Osmond looked pretty good on “Dancing with the Stars”. She was obviously not wearing her magic underwear, and hardly modestly dressed like a good Mormon woman should be. She’s still quite attractive.
