Being excommunicated for apostasy by the Mormon church is one thing, but Lyndon Lamborn is livid that his stake president has ordered bishops in eight Mesa wards to take the rare step of announcing disciplinary action against him to church members today. "I thought if he could go public, so can I," said Lamborn, a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who said his research into church history gave him "thousands of reasons the church can't be what it claims to be."
Stake President R. James Molina acknowledged Friday he intends to have Lamborn's excommunication announced to the wards at men's priesthood meetings and womens Relief Society gatherings, even with Lamborn now taking his case public. Molina, as well as officials at church headquarters in Salt Lake City, call such a public warning about an ousted member extremely rare. They say, however, church members must be protected from what discordant ex-followers may say to damage the church...................

Nope. I agree. I dont agree that he was an adulterer, because he was acting according to the Lords commandments; but he was a sinner as all are.Just WHO has convinced you of this??
There is no record of such 'commands' being given.

There is no expansion needed when Jesus words are sufficient.But... theose 'words' are suspect; doncha know!
"As long as it's translated correctly" covers a multitude of sins!

Read my post #315. Quit trying to blame God for the Abram's wife talking her hubby into having sex w/his maid. There is no "God told Abram to have sex with his maid" language in the Bible. (Joseph made it up) Why...
That's BLASPHEMY against our beloved Prophet!!
Just WHY would he need to make up something like that?
To cover his tracks with those other women?
NO WAY!!!
GOD told him what to say!!

I dont have that quote, and you know it. What I have provided is significant Biblical precedent for the practice. Then you HAVE to retract your constant saying that GOD commanded him to do it.
It is false.

Bottom line: When God commands plural marriage, it is not adultery. But you've shown NO 'command'.<
You've provided EXAMPLES of it; but no COMMAND of it.

I am waiting to hear how Mormonism Apologists justify Smith abrogating marriage vows by taking women to wife who were still married to alive men with whom they had taken vows and Smiths vows in his marriage to Emma set aside by marrying more married women!
THE
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
SECTION 132
5157,
Emma Smith is counseled (commanded) to be faithful and true; 5866, Laws governing the plurality of wives are set forth.
51 Verily, I say unto you: A
commandment I give unto mine handmaid,
Emma Smith, your wife, whom I have given unto you, that she stay herself and partake not of that which I commanded you to offer unto her; for I did it, saith the Lord, to
aprove you all, as I did Abraham, and that I might require an offering at your hand, by covenant and sacrifice.
52 And let mine handmaid,
Emma Smith,
areceive all those that have been given unto my servant Joseph, and who are virtuous and pure before me; and those who are not pure, and have said they were pure, shall be destroyed, saith the Lord God.
53 For I am the Lord thy God, and ye shall obey my voice; and I give unto my servant Joseph that he shall be made ruler over many things; for he hath been
afaithful over a few things, and from henceforth I will strengthen him.
54 And I
command mine handmaid,
Emma Smith, to abide and
acleave unto my servant Joseph, and to none else. But if she will not abide this
commandment she shall be
bdestroyed, saith the Lord; for I am the Lord thy God, and will destroy her if she abide not in my law.
55 But if she will not abide this
commandment, then shall my servant Joseph do all things for her, even as he hath said; and I will bless him and multiply him and give unto him an
ahundredfold in this world, of fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, houses and lands, wives and children, and crowns of
beternal lives in the eternal worlds.
56 And again, verily I say, let mine handmaid
aforgive my servant Joseph his trespasses; and then shall she be forgiven her trespasses, wherein she has trespassed against me; and I, the Lord thy God, will bless her, and multiply her, and make her heart to
brejoice.
Whatever HAPPENED to Emma???
Oh yeah. She stayed behind in Missouri and got the RLDS going.
(Even in the face of those HORRIBLE, MURDEROUS mobs that rampage and pillage and destroy everything Mormon!)
But if she will not abide this commandment she shall be destroyed, saith the Lord; for I am the Lord thy God, and will destroy her if she abide not in my law.
So much for forgiveness of the Mormon GOD!

Still, the fact remains that sanctioned polygamy demonstrably existed in the Old Testament. But NOT 'commanded'.
You object to that doctrine being revisited in modern times, and thats fine; but it has been demonstrated that polygamy, in and of itself, is not immoral when administered under the Lords directives.
Uh, you've not SHOWN any 'directives'.

My conscience demands that I recognize Smith as a prophet of God...That's too bad...
1 Corinthians 4:4
My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me.

God was testing Abraham. He had no intention of making Abraham sacrifice Isaac.
See there is where Joseph Smith cast himself into the role of playing God.
Who was he to be in charge of testing other men’s faith? By asking them to let their wives commit adultery? And he went thru with it many times?
I’ll say it again. Odds are if it weren’t for that evil practice of polygamy JS would have lived many more years.

I made it clear that Abraham had 3 wives. You sure did!
But that doesn't make your statement corret!
Hagar was NOT his wife, and he didn't have TWO wives at the same time.
Genesis 17:15-19
15. God also said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah.
16. I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her."
17. Abraham fell facedown; he laughed and said to himself, "Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?"
18. And Abraham said to God, "If only Ishmael might live under your blessing!"
19. Then God said, "Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.
NO mention of Hagar being a wife; but SARAH.
