Mother Angelica always provided a good reference to humility in St. Mark's (Mark 9:23-25) and Saint Matthew's Gospel (Matthew 8:2-3). The man in St. Mark's Gospel has an unbelieving faith demanding a healing from Jesus while the leper in St. Matthew's Gospel truly believed, humbly asked for a healing and waited. The difference between the two men is that one wondered if Jesus COULD, and the other wondered if Jesus WOULD.

Humility informs our hearts and our minds that we can trust in God's answers even if they are not what we wanted to hear. It accepts and embraces God's power and justice and causes us to stay close to God.

I’ve always lovoed the story of the woman with a hemmorghage who knew if she reached out and touched the tassle of Christ’s garment she would be healed. True faith and true humility being that she touched the hem of his garment from behind him.
