Imitation of Christ Devotional Ping!

Please notify me via FReepmail if you would like to be added to or taken off the Imitation of Christ Devotional Ping List.

Also, many Protestants have asked me to put them on this ping list. I have gladly done so, and will add your name also if you FReepmail me. I reassure you that will not get all the Catholic pings.

If you do not overcome small, trifling things, how will you overcome the more difficult? Resist temptations in the beginning, and unlearn the evil habit lest perhaps, little by little, it lead to a more evil one.

Like I tell my kids, "everyone wants to save the world, but nobody wants to clean the toilet." Saving the world, and your own soul, begins with cleaning the toilet. Every act is important to God, and every sacrifice especially so, if its done for the sake of God or neighbor.

If we tried, however, to stand as brave men in battle, the help of the Lord from heaven would surely sustain us.

I think the biggest problem today is that people are chasing worldly things. How many people, even Christians, know what the purpose of life is? If you remember, at every moment of the day, that the purpose of life is to become a saint, then becoming a saint becomes easier. You can't achieve sainthood if you're pursuing everything but.

**Why were some of the saints so perfect and so given to contemplation? Because they tried to mortify entirely in themselves all earthly desires, and thus they were able to attach themselves to God with all their heart and freely to concentrate their innermost thoughts.**

The saints also chose to suffer WITH Christ, and we can make the same choice!
