” The orans position is an ancient eastern tradition, often shunned by traditionalist Roman Catholics, though I am not sure why.”

I’ve always believed that the orans position is only for the priest. His hands are the consecrated hands and consecrate the Host.

I’ve been a trad, but am now going to a NO and I find it awkward to use just prior the sign of peace. Others around me have no problem with it.

Priest: Peace be with you. (orans)

People: And also with you. (orans)

I suppose it’s just what one is accustomed to at Mass.

For your perusal. I have taken to just folding my hands and not doing anything. I get stares, but so what?
