Rev. Sara "Sally" Gausmann and her husband, the Rev. Paul Gausmann are good friends as well as excellent defenders of the faith.

She (and at least a half dozen other Ordained women of my acquaintence are the reason why going to Missouri or swimming the Tiber are not options...at least for me.

Like FReeper Aberaussie, she has worked tirelessly to hold the line; in Sally's case having been elected to THREE consecutive Churchwide Assemblies.

God bless this faithful remnant...and may it remain always faithful.

The road to Damnation is wide, and beautifully diverse!

You shouldn’t stay in such a place. It is going to wind up affecting you in some negative way. Your desire for orthodoxy and real Christian unity should be enough to quell your desire for a denomination that is orthodox.

It is not like you have not tried to biblically correct these people. You have tried to get them to see they are wrong, and they say you are wrong and go on with their plans. You need to love God enough and want to be true to Him rather than any physical church or denomination and do what His Word says in these cases- namely, to try to first reproach in a Christian way, and if they do not change their error, you need to leave them. There are other denominations that you would be welcomed in that are orthodox.

What a great article. I really understand where she is coming from. I briefly considered ordination way back when I was in youth ministry on my church staff - if I had pursued it, I guess I would be in the same boat now. I have a good friend who is pastor as well and has been quite a bit of support during the last few years of struggle. She is married to a pastor as well - where do they go?

I am thankful for people like Rev. Sally who are willing to go through what we did last week over and over. What a blessing. The Word Alone and Lutheran CORE folks were amazing as well. For me, it just was not enough to balance out what was thrown at us from the front all week.

That is your position and you can hold it. However, I have found a home in the LCMS.

What is going on in the elca is enough to break your heart. I can only advise, once again, if the ship is going down and the Captain tells you to salvage something useful, don’t be the one who grabs the anchor.
