To: stop_fascism

My understanding is the first is wrong, there should be no announcements before or after a homily in either Rite.

For the second, I believe it’s OK to have the announcements as you describe, but distinctly separate from the post-Communion period, so there is one extra sitting and standing, in other words, announcements just before the final blessing...?

That’s what our priest does. So I think it’s OK.

Announcements either just before or just after the homily have been made in the Old Rite since my earliest memories—which would be in the mid-1950’s.

No problem. Not illicit by ANY means.

That is how it is in our parish, it used to be before the Mass began but I guess the latecomers were missing the announcements.
