>>How about all the attempted hugging during the sign of Peace?<<
Handle it one of two ways....
1. Sneeze into your hand, wipe your nose on your sleeve and pucker up as you lean in for that hug
or
2. Scratch your head, smile sweetly and say “Lice”
I am very blessed to be where I am at.
I did get to visit the home of Rhoda Wise while in Canton. She was the stigmatist who Mother attributed her first miracle cure to. It was great!
These should not be overlooked either.
- Singing the songs, whole-heartedly, prayerfully and open to grace and healing. Expressing great joy AND observing holy silence.
- Building friendships/fellowship with each other after the Mass and during the week so we’re not just strangers showing up but a growing community.
- Showing hospitality and patience to newer Catholics/converts or those who are interested. Bearing witness of our faith during the week to others.

The practical details are very important, and many parishes are also blessed with priests who maintain the proper traditions. At the same time, forget not love.
ROFL!
My parish is as traditional as it gets.
We still kneel for communion in our NO Holy Mass.
Yet, we welcome everyone. Everyone gravitates to the hall, even without donuts being offered. We have six Holy Masses on Sunday. A good time is had by all after even the 8:30 pm.
Yet, when I go to the “Catholic Communities” not a single person welcomes me unless they are handing out bulletins. Our parishes used to be our lives. Mine still is. So what happened at the Liberal parishes? Perhaps it became all about the people and not the people praising Our Lord.
I have to admit that I hug my wife and kids. All others get the handshake, nod or wave if they’re not right beside me.
The Franciscan parish I attended in NE Indiana put sand in the holy water fonts during Lent, replacing the water.
Pope Benedict’s arrival is none too soon.
It is improtant to follow the rules in order to maintain catholicity (universality), but don’t make following the rules the goal. Many have accused Catholic and other liturgical churches of being too “ritualistic” and lacking of real faith.
In ECUSA, there are many, many hard core liberals who are very good at following all of the rubrics to “do the service correctly”. Similarly, many breakaway ECUSA churches foundered because they made strict adherence to the 1928 BCP and the 1942 Hymnal the primary goal of their church.
>>I have to admit that I hug my wife and kids<<
I kiss my kids and they kiss each other. Daddy too!
I was wondering if that would happen (and I really can’t see it happening) with “And with your spirit” or with “Et cum spiritu tuo.”
I think it grew out of a congeniality fostered by the non-use of the actual quotes. I believe in bringing them back it will disappear.
LOL! Yes, I forgot that one. don’t worry — you didn’t show the terrible pix.
I have no idea, but perhaps some who attend a TLM could help us.
First of all, please tell the people who schedule this that the only Eucharistiic Minister at a Mass is the priest.
These are EMHC — translation,
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.
I think it will slowly disappear as we get more priests and parishes flourish (It will happen!), but for now, just getting in the line for the priest is good enough for me.
He must love the Eucharistic Prayer IV, it has the most references to God as Father. LOL! Check up on him and see!
BTW, I only found that out this last week.
That’s what our priest does. So I think it’s OK.
I like that too, Mom! Thanks for the references.
**The NAB is a banal, linguistically inept, and misleading translation. **
Oh! I agree!
I had pulled that up from EWTN and chose to post this one first and then it. Guess I’d better get to it, huh?
Unless you want to do it.

ROTFL!
I noticed that references to the music were missing. Stay tuned.
The REVISED STANDARD VERSION??? Isn’t that the updating of none other than the KING JAMES bible? I’m horrified! It should at least be a bible that isn’t consciously and conspicuously anti-Catholic, no? Like maybe Douay-Rheims, or even the Jerusalem Bible?
