First of all, I want to state for the record that I am not an expert on the Bible. I am a born-again Christian and baptised. It’s only in the past few years that I’ve been studying the scriptures more diligently. My question is... why do we all fight amongst ourselves? Why are we not out there witnessing to the lost, the Buddhists, the Hindus, the Muslims, the atheists, etc?! I don’t really care if a person belongs to another Christian denomination, be it Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist or whatever! I believe the true “church” talked about in the Bible are born-again believers. I don’t believe it’s what we would refer to as an “organized church”. You don’t have to be baptised as shown by Jesus’ words to the thief hanging beside him. You don’t have to do good works, again shown by Jesus’ words to the same man. He had no time for good works at that point! So, for me the bottom line is, do you believe Jesus Christ was the Son of God, who died for your sins and rose again? If you accept that and turn from your sinful life then I believe you are part of the “church” that Christ spoke of.... I think we spend far too much time arguing amongst ourselves and not enough time doing what Jesus commanded - to go out and spread the Good News to the lost! It makes me want to cry when I see fellow Christians attacking each other over petty differences. Satan must be enjoying this whole show. The more time spent arguing, the fewer souls won for Jesus. Welcome to the FR Religion Forum, MHIL-E.

You’ll find a lot of interesting conversation on this forum, and you’ll see a really broad range of American Christianity.

I agree with you that the important thing is to spread the gospel message.

The whole Rodney King approach does not erase the differences. It merely sweeps them under the rug. If you are serious about ecumenical dialogue, and working out our differences, then let's talk.
