I thought that we had gotten past this issue with the first ecumencal council. I guess its back to my youth when the Catholic kids told me I was a bastard and my mother was a whore because I was Protesant.
Too bad its come to this again.
They may have really been taunting you, however most Catholic kids I knew would say those things just to mock their own faith.
I can't tell you how many of us ate fish on Fridays only for spite... because adults said "we couldn't".
We sure proved them wrong!
Oops- correction... we ATE MEAT for spite. Fish was “OK”.
That’s funny/ironic. In 6th grade, while some of us Catholic kids were standing in the classroom waiting for a taxi that would take us to church school, a Protestant classmate came up and yelled at us saying “You Catholics think you are the best” or something to that effect. First time I’d ever encountered something like that.
It is unfortunate that children can be cruel, but that is certainly not the view of the church as expressed by the Pope or in the catechism.
