I went to an elite Private Catholic High School. We were taught that doctrine. We were also taught that we shouldn't bring Protestants to the Proms, that Jews were at the bottom of the list and could never get to heaven. We were told that if one were Catholic, they were obligated to vote for JFK. I was temporarily suspended for saying that was ridiculous..
We were shipped on a bus with red and white striped hats in hand. What did JFKL say?? Not much. The accent was overwhelming and that's all you heard.
When I told my dad about my day, he informed me about Bootleg Joe and that was my first real lesson in politics. It was 1960 or 1961.
Lest I forget...Kisses under the count of 10 were venial sins. Over that...straight to hell!

I was taught that if you swim in a pool with a boy, you could get pregnant.
Good thing we’re past all that stuff.

So someone ignorant taught you ignorant things and that’s what you accepted? I dunno, I was told a lot of things growing up, I didn’t accept them just because someone said so. I asked questions and got answers, some years later.
