I believe that lineage can be traced on a human side (laying on of hands) and on a spiritual side (identification with the correct doctrine and practices of our Lord.)

If I had to choose one, it would be spiritual lineage. There is some small measure added validity if there is also a human lineage to trace.

Quoting a question can hardly be called making a claim. I was asking if you thought orthodox to be catholic. If I remember, you kept saying “orthodox is orthodox.”

To me, you dodged the question. However, what we are doing now is “jumping threads.” That is against religion forum rules, IIRC.

Preaching the truth of scripture is "anti-Catholic"?
STRAWMAN ALERT

He asked a question and you call his response a straw-man? It looks like you are the one carrying the straw

So does this mean that we can't ask anyone for a favor? Even ourselves?...because that would be worship? You limit God, we are HIS creations, we are meant to interact. Why would God deign to use an angel or a human to do His bidding when He could do it all Himself if we weren't supposed to interact with His creations? Why do we not live on manna from heaven and instead plant and grow our own crops to eat? Why doesn't He just manufacture babies and drop them on the street corner? It is not JUST me and GOD, it is me and God and all of God's creation!

God gave us a home, earth, filled with all we need to survive, I use that earth for the air I breath, for the gravity that keeps me grounded, for the water that God created me to need, does that mean I worship the earth? Jesus told us to love, as God has loved! So to give honor to anyone is worship? He gave Eve to Adam as a helpmate, he gave us each other to love as he loved and loving God's creation, all of it, is no disservice to God. To love is to worship? I refuse to limit God and I refuse to take your theology as my own. In your hypersensitivity you might think that asking someone to use the power of God to pray for me or to actually do something for me gives them worship. I beg to differ, I refuse to believe your limited theology and I'm willing to rely on the infinite Mercy of God.

Pss the reformation was Calvinist in doctrine.

Luther like Augustine held most of the Calvinist doctrines including predestination, election etc

Do not be confused by the form of worship .

"It makes human works the basis for justification which merit eternal life."

The above statement is NOT from either any "RCC documents" nor "the writings of RCC apologists." It was cut and pasted from an anti-catholic website called Jesus-is-Lord.com

Huh? Are you purposely lying in order to get me in trouble, since we all know JesusisLord.com is not a website permitted on this forum?

Or do you just naively hope that every site which throws light on the RCC is from JesusisLord.com?

If you had actually read the link I provided, you'd see that excerpt was from William Webster's excellent essay found at Monergism.com via ChristianTruth.com.

I'll post it again for your discernment.

THE ROMAN CATHOLIC TEACHING ON SALVATION AND JUSTIFICATION

I forgive you.

We have God who says He is faithful and just and will answer our prayers. We have His only begotten Son who is our one mediator between God and us. For the life of me, I will never understand why when one is given direct access to the King, he runs around searching for another, and says to himself and others, my way is better. And it isn't my theology I did not write the bible

Romans 1:21

Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Peter’s eternal soul is with the Lord. Christ is physically alive.

Jesus does NOT like His mother being dissed.

It is not "dissing" Mary to say she was human in every way and that she needed a Savior as much as you and I.

The words of her Son attest to that fact. In spite of Christ's admonishment, the RCC has generated a thriving business enterprise around her likeness.

If Jesus were to return today, I believe He would correct the RCC just as He corrected the woman in Luke 11...

"And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.

But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it." -- Luke 11:27-28

The RCC encourages men to broaden their scope and look past Jesus Christ as the one, true, singular, perfect object of our affection. And that's a mistake. If you know photography, you know that when we widen our view, we also shorten it.

Did you read the whole passage:

Yes I read the whole passage. In fact I posted the whole passage. On the one hand New Advent makes the claim the sacraments aren't necessary for salvation. Then it states they are necessary for men to make use of them.

It sounds to me like you're saying the sacraments are not necessary for salvation. Is this correct? If the sacraments are not necessary for salvation, what is? Are you saying you're saved through faith?

I’m not real thrilled about any group that sells jesus junk for profit. Mary junk ain’t terribly impressive either.

Jesus would beat them about the head and shoulders and drive them from the temple.

Matthew 6:6-9

6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. 7 And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.

8 “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. 9 In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

Jesus tells us in the "model prayer" to pray to the Father. I see no mention of dead people or angels.

The “santaria” culture of latin america flexes its muscle with the RCC. While I doubt the RCC will issue such a boldly erroneous doctrine in an age where false doctrines are so easily and quickly debunked, I am equally sure that they will allow, even encourage the false doctrine under the surface. Essentially, they’ll have their cake and eat it to; the practice will occur with tacit RCC approval, but at the same time they can state that it is not a part of church doctrine. This is quite a common practice these days.

: Jesus does NOT like His mother being dissed.

Suzy what part of the nature of Christ did Mary contribute?

His sinless and divine nature came from the Father right? Mary did not contribute to the divine part of the nature of Christ, she was to contribute the human side with all it flaws and imperfections.

When we make make Mary a demi god we lose site of that and have less than a fully human Savior .

It is not "dissing" Mary to see her as she saw herself, a sinner in need of a Savior. It is not" dissing" her to see that the one that God chose her from eternity to be the mother of the Savior. What an honor and blessing

Grace is Gods unmerited favor. She did not deserve that role or His grace any more than you or I do. That is what grace means.

We can honor her and her work raising Christ without making her something she is not .

For the life of me, I will never understand why when one is given direct access to the King, he runs around searching for another, and says to himself and others, my way is better.

AMEN!

"Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.

Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD.

For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water." -- Jeremiah 2:11-13

"Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent" -- Acts 17:29-30
