“Pope John Paul II called you to a new evangelization, and you accepted his commission with your customary generosity and commitment.”  “I now confirm it with you, and in the words of this Fifth Conference I say to you: be faithful disciples, so as to be courageous and effective missionaries!”

The reaction was an instantaneous burst of applause. B16 mentioned on several occasions that JPII often told him of his great love for the peoples of Latin America and went on to underscore that message by thanking him for their warm welcome and the great love they extended to him.

I heard a quote this morning and it went something like this:

“The Catholic Church invites; it does not dictate.”

Does anyone have the wxact quote from Pope Benedict XVI?

It’s my understanding that Christianity (led in large numbers by Catholic conversions) is growing very quickly in Africa and underground in China. I welcome the news, if true, and I’m happy for any conversions from non-Christian to any Christian body whether Catholic, Presbyterian, Baptist or any other trinitarian-believing body.
