New York, Apr 30, 2007 / 11:23 am (CNA).- The St. Louis media seems to be running a campaign against the Catholic Church, following Archbishop Raymond Burke’s protest of abortion-activist Sheryl Crow’s performance at a Catholic hospital fundraiser.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch and KMOV (CBS affiliate), in particular, have invited the public to voice its opinion over the archbishop’s decision.
Catholic League president Bill Donohue says the “voyeuristic posture assumed by these two media outlets is not legitimate.
According to Donohue, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch “is inviting non-Catholics to opine about an internal matter of the St. Louis Archdiocese, beckoning the bigots to post their hatred on its website.
“It has even gone so far as to run a punch line cartoon on this issue, asking the public to submit a caption,” reported Donohue.
“KMOV is also playing voyeur by asking Protestants, Jews, Muslims, agnostics and atheists to stick their noses into the business of another religion,” he added.
Furthermore, the station has four surveys on its website on the Catholic Church. However, Donohue notes, “no other religion is open for question.”
Maybe people should start an email/web campaign to unsubscribe to the newspaper.

Maybe you can email this to your Catholic friends and ask them to call the newspaper.
One can always explain that one is upset on what is viewed as an attack on the Catholic Church, ask them if they think that it will help/hurt their subscriptions/advertising...

It is my opinion that Catholics should voice an opinion against what this Newspaper is doing.
They can call the Toll Free or 800 numbers and voice their concerns.
This will be listened to by the newspaper, as it will cost time and money to the newspaper and interrupt services if they are flooded with calls across the country.
When the New York Times misquoted Archbishop Chaput during the 2004 election, Catholics in New York City raised quite a stink about it, and the Newspaper, along with pressure from the Archbishop, had to make compensatory measures -- such as giving Archbishop Chaput a Column in the NY Times.
I have posted phone numbers. Emails can be deleted. The most effective way to reach a newspaper is by calling them.
Discern your own action and ping other people if you agree...

I also hope everyone is calling these media outlets and condemning their anti-Catholic bigotry and demanding to speak to everyone possible at those outlets to voice our displeasure.
Has anyone contacted the Maronites in St. Louis to encourage them to Archbishop Burke in a big way? A Maronite picket and boycott sounds like a great idea to me.

I am Jewish and I think the Bishop is correct. In fact, Hillary Clinton, who is vehemently pro abortion, should be banned from addressing Catholic groups and Catholic charities.
