In 1999, then-Mayor Rudolph Giuliani tried to withdraw a grant from the Brooklyn Museum of Art for a painting depicting the Virgin Mary as a black woman splattered with elephant dung adorned with cut-outs from pornographic magazines. Current Mayor Michael Bloomberg took a different approach.
"If you want to give the guy some publicity, talk more about it, make a big fuss," Bloomberg told WABC radio. "If you want to really hurt him, don't pay attention."
...and Bloomberg is thinking of running for President???

I just saw a photo from the back on FOX. Of course a frontal view is objectionable. Back to chocolate bunnies.

Do you bite the ears first? Or do you prefer the bite the feet?

Still waiting for the giant naked Mohammed chocolate figure at Ramadamn. Or the giant naked MLK Jr. to celebrate February. Oh wait, it is only safe to mock Chrisitans (and feed us to lions).

Well, the National Endowment for the Arts would never fund a naked Mohammad because it is nit safe to do anything that remotely offends Muslims. Christians, on the other had, are fair game - we don't riot and burn buildings, cars, etc.

Yes. I find it interesting that such artists focus so much vituperation on Judeo-Christian beliefs. Seems like a psychosis.

Well, this is one reason why I am not interested in what passes as art in such venues today. In art, I am fairly broadminded, but I frankly do not see anything in this other than another hackneyed attempt to shock people.

Once I enjoyed visiting some of the wonderful art museums across the country; saw the Pieta in NY when I was a kid, went to the Met, Guggenheim, Honolulu Academy of Arts....and the NY Car Show. But the last time I visited an academy what I saw wasn't art in many of the displays. I was escorted out of the building after defiling an exhibit of an ashtray filled with cigarette butts to which I'd contributed while wondering which hall to visit next.
Aloha Victoria!

LOL, good for you. Indeed some of that stuff isn't art by any stretch of the imagination.
Aloha back!

You should have claimed to be an artist and stated that you were contributing to the installation as a sign of support.

I should have just headed off to the car show in the first place. An ashtray there would be functional.......and emptied as necessary.

Well, cars are functional works of art, mate. I have thought of being a modern artist. I could coat roadkill with polyurethane and tack it onto a golf cart and call it something like "Pancake Breakfast" and sell it for gobs of cash.

Humm, ears, I suppose, but claim privacy on that.
Good luck with your PhD. Been ther done that. Looks like your field may be contemporary history.
