Kendall Harmon's loss

From the Email Bag March 8th, 2007 posted by kendall at 10:20 pm It is impossible to convey fully the depth of gratitude I have for all the emails, prayers and other communications of support I have received today. I especially wish to thank Susan Russell for her blog post which was also posted on the Integrity listserv. Susan, that was very classy and very appreciated.

If we do not all interact with each other, in the midst of all the church is journeying through at present, as other human beings who go through common struggles and challenges, then we are missing the boat. I mostly rejoice that God is able to do far more abundantly than all than we can ask or imagine and that his grace is so evident in times of weakness and loss like these–KSH.

——————————————————— Kendall,

I just read of your mother’s death. Prayers ascend for the soul of your mother, and you and for your family. The loss of a parent is never easy. After my father’s death, a friend told me of how he had felt when his father died — “I felt like my windshield was gone.” That statement really resonated with me. May your mother rest in peace and rise in glory. And may God grant you comfort and surround you with love and care in this season of grief.

——————————————————————- I lost my Mom a year ago last month. I still miss her, of course. There are certain things that happen that I would normally have called her to share them. Some few kinds of experiences seem like they can’t be shared with anyone else…or more precisely, as if the sharing of them is unsatisfactory, as if only she would really, really appreciate that particular story.

Kendall, you’re in my prayers. It takes a while. Life seems a bit disoriented.

Rev. Susan Russell's post referred to by Kendall above:

Kendall Harmon's mother Mary Ann died this morning after a battle with cancer. Please keep Canon Harmon and his family in your prayers as they grieve their loss. And let us remember that the ties that bind us to one another and to the God who created us in love transcend not only the pain of death but the politics of the church.

Give rest, O Christ, to thy servant Mary Ann with thy saints, where sorrow and pain are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting.

I met Kendall at a speaking engagement at a local ECUSA church. He impressed me as an extremely thoughtful, kind, and godly man. I believe his attitude, as well as his intellect have been of great benefit to the Church throughout this very tough time.

May God the Father, Son and Holy Ghost give supernatural comfort for him and his family in this time of shock and loss.
