A New Age Marches On! (New Lutheran hymnal)
American LutheranPublicity Bureau ^ | 27 January AD 2007 | ALPB

Posted on 01/27/2007 6:21:46 PM PST by lightman

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the E - L - W
There is little room for Father, Son, and Spirit this is true
But it’s otherwise inclusive so the green book, it is through
A new age marches on!

Glory, glory, hallelujah
M - D - G’s are comin’ to ya
Glory, glory hallelujah
A new age marches on!

The new book has excised the dreaded Gloria Patri
And at table, from the “gracious Father” we are now set free
Likewise “bondage to sin” vanished thanks to the bless’d Trinity
A new age marches on!

Glory, glory, hallelujah
M - D - G’s are comin’ to ya
Glory, glory hallelujah
A new age marches on!

There is more of Marty Haugen than of Martin of Erfurt
And some melodies so lofty altoes, basses will be hurt
But Chicago has said, “never to the green book now revert”
A new age marches on!

Glory, glory, hallelujah
M - D - G’s are comin’ to ya
Glory, glory hallelujah
A new age marches on!

M - D - G's is a reference to the UN Millenium Development Goals of which ELCA Presiding Bishop Mark Hanson and TEC Presiding Bishop Schori have expressed great adulation.

It's the sign of the betrayal of the church. It is just another sign of the end.

Actually, the new ELW includes all the worship settings from the LBW and the WOV as well as a couple of additional ones. Apparently, the "previews" we saw were just a couple of the new settings so the traditional ones are still there as well. Likewise, there is enough room for Luther's Small Catechism as well as the hymns, Psalms and everything else.

Despite much wailing and gnashing of teeth, the only thing we have changed by going to the "new" book is the page numbers.

Problem is, only two of the Eucharistic prayers begin by addressing God as "Father"; and those are the two carryovers from LBW. Likewise few of the new prayers conclude with an overtly Trinitarian doxology. The "Glory to the Father..." conclusions to the canticles in Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer, and Compline have also vanished.

Some of the new material is good. The Marriage Rite is far better than the LBW service. Now for a really good new book, check out the Lutheran Service Book from Concordia.

E.L.C.A.
Tune: “Y.M.C.A.”

“Luth’ran” doesn’t mean quite the same
As what you’ve been taught to know by that name.
We’re removin’ all the scandal and shame
Of a church that stands for something.

Luth’ran, no, you’re not misinformed,
Yes, it’s true now, we commune the Reformed.
No forced union made us bow or conform,
Just a warm and fuzzy feeling.

It’s fun to be in the E.L.C.A.
It’s fun to be in the E.L.C.A.
We have women in black,
Now there’s no turning back
To the hang ups of dead white guys.

It’s fun to be in the E.L.C.A.
It’s fun to be in the E.L.C.A.
You can set yourself free
From dead orthodoxy,
You can do whatever you please.

Luth’ran, won’t you please come along
To the Elca, where’s there’s no right or wrong.
In the Elca, heretics can belong,
They can teach at seminary.

“Luth’ran,” but our fingers were crossed,
All our doctrine has been totally lost.
All that’s Luth’ran is what we have embossed
On our cards and stationery.

It’s fun to be in the E.L.C.A.
It’s fun to be in the E.L.C.A.
We have women in black,
Now there’s no turning back
To the hang ups of dead white guys.

It’s fun to be in the E.L.C.A.
It’s fun to be in the E.L.C.A.
You can set yourself free
From dead orthodoxy,
You can do whatever you please.

Elca, where it’s very uncouth
And unwelcome to say you have the truth
And where seldom is a word ever heard
To discourage sin or error.

Elca, where it’s all shades of gray,
I said, Elca, where it’s hip to be gay.
Our umbrella is as big as a tent,
There’s no need for you to repent.

It’s fun to be in the E.L.C.A.
It’s fun to be in the E.L.C.A.
We have women in black,
Now there’s no turning back
To the hang ups of dead white guys.

It’s fun to be in the E.L.C.A.
It’s fun to be in the E.L.C.A.
You can set yourself free
From dead orthodoxy,
You can do whatever you please.

Hmmmm....sounds a little like one I wrote just before the last Churchwide Assembly:

E.L.C.A.

Church man, there's no need to feel down.

I said, church man, pick yourself off the ground.

I said, church man, 'cause you're in a new town

There's no need to be unhappy.

Church man, there's a place you can go.

I said, church man, when your truths you don’t know.

You can pray there, and I'm sure you will find

Many ways to have a good time.

It's fun to pray at the E-L-C-A.

It's fun to pray at the E-L-C-A.

They have everything for you men to enjoy,

You can hang out with all the boys ...

It's fun to pray at the E-L-C-A.

It's fun to pray at the E-L-C-A.

You can get yourself preened, you can have God’s good meal,

You can do whatever you feel ...

Church man, are you listening to me?

I said, church man, what do you want to be?

I said, church man, you can make real your dreams.

But you got to know this one thing!

No man does it all by himself.

I said, church man, put your pride on the shelf,

And just go there, to the E-L-C-A.

Their “Gospel” can help you today.

Church man, I was once in your shoes.

I said, I was down and out with the blues.

I felt no man cared if I were alive.

I felt the whole world was so tight ...

That's when someone came up to me,

And said, church man, take a walk up the street.

There's a place there called the E-L-C-A.

They can turn your back on The Way.

It's fun to pray at the E-L-C-A.

It's fun to pray at the E-L-C-A.

They have everything for you men to enjoy,

You can hang out with all the boys ...

E-L-C-A... you'll find it at the E-L-C-A.

Church man, church man, there's no need to feel down.

Church man, church man, get yourself off the ground.

E-L-C-A ... you'll find it at the E-L-C-A.

Church man, church man, there's no need to feel down.

Church man, church man, get yourself off the ground.

E-L-C-A ... just go to the E-L-C-A.

Church man, church man, are you listening to me?

Church man, church man, what do you wanna be?

The new LCMS Lutheran Service Book is a truly excellent book. It includes the Augsburg Confession, the Small Catechism, and nothing but orthodox Trinitarian addresses to God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

An ELCA congregation itching for a new book would do very well than to look no farther than the LSB.

What if members of the LCMS would offer to give the new LCMS Lutheran Service Book to ELCA congregations. I might think about this.

So long as it is called something slightly more benevolent than "evangelizing the heathen"....not a problem!

I agree that LSB looks like a very good book--we're studtying it right now for our congregation--but it does not include the Augsburg Confession. It does include the Small Catechism, though, and many other good features.

Besides all those "Fatherless" Eucharistic Prayers and making "Father, Son and Holy Spirit" optional, there are all those annoying altered hymns!!!! Some of the greatest of Lutheran chorales, many of the Wesleys' finest, etc. have been "altered" for ideological reasons.

Most of the time, the "alterations" are to cut out masculine pronouns, or words that the feminazis don't like, like "Lord", "King", "Father", and "Son". But then there is the "peacenik" lobby, that cuts out "military language". For example, we no longer can sing "For All the Saints" and call the saints "faithful warriors".

The whole effect of the combination of feminazis and "peaceniks" is to sissify the liturgy!!!! I guess that that makes for a truly "gay-friendly" service, but leaves heterosexual men--and the women who love them--out in the cold. That's just plain outrageous!!!!

The "options" in the ELW liturgy are either musically or textually inferior to the originals, or both. And Orthodox Christians have no hesitation whatsoever to call making "Father, Son and Holy Spirit" optional HERESY. It's better for Lutherans to listen to our loving mother (the Orthodox Church) than to the feminazis and ELCA mis-leaders, who have done nothing but undermine us and steer us wrong for decades!!!!

I've not see the LSB. But I heard that it truncated the Eucharistic Prayers to cut out elements that were "too Catholic" (or "too Orthodox").

Is that true?

It's good that they emphasize the REAL heresy or apostasy--replacing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the fakey New World Order "gospel" of the MDG's.

Once a church is taken over by the NWO/Global Union, it ceases to be part of the Church of Christ, and becomes a part of the precursor of Antichrist.

To answer your question by plagiarizing post #1:

M - D - G's is a reference to the UN Millenium Development Goals of which ELCA Presiding Bishop Mark Hanson and TEC Presiding Bishop [Jefferts-]Schori have expressed great adulation.

The New World Order feminazi heretic Katharine Jefferts-Schori has also made the MDGs the "mission" of the Episcopal church, and thus used them to replace the true and eternal Gospel! At the last ELCA Global Mission event, at least some ELCA mis-leaders were doing the same.

Lord Have mercy! Kyrie eleison! Gospodi pomiluj!
