Great thread by Enloe, GC. And I really like William Webster. The link you gave above to his "Forgeries and the Papacy" is excellent.

How does one trust a church that locks up its "copy" of the Bible and forbids access? No one has been allowed to see the original manuscript of the Vaticanus since 1475! Photographs were made in 1889-90 and 1904 (of New Testament only) which are the only means anyone has of studying this questionable, Alexandrian text.

James White's website, Alpha & Omega Ministries, mentioned in this article, also has an excellent section on truth and error here...
