Interesting analysis of Wuerl. I didn't realize he was that old, either, but it's true, he's not old enough to be the last of the New Deal Dem generation or anything that might let him off the hook.

I am involved in my (small but valiant) parish pro-life march here, so I won't be going to DC this year. Good luck to you and your 30-40 kids! I hope it's not super cold, but even if it is, that won't bother the kids. This is really a great thing for them to do.

Don't forget to report back to us!

Cold? My kids couldn't be bothered with such trivialities. They are on fire. The temp is most likely to hamper the over 40 set, myself included.

Last year was my very first year and it was an amazing and positive experience. While I knew that those stinkers in the media would be misreporting the event I could not have anticipated how far off they were.

The numbers that they reported were off badly by hundreds of thousands and while they gave the death cult equal time on the tube they were nowhere to be seen, They ceded the streets to us without so much as a whimper.

The vigor and youth of the crowds was the most amazing thing of the event. My students made connections with other young pro-life Catholics from many other states. they'll carry this experience into their college years and be a strong force for life.

Have your valiant crew keep us in your prayers,...and we will be there together,...and in spirit!

Here is my post from another thread per my experience at the March for Life;

I will have to get back to this space as it regards Bishop Wuerl, the original topic here. Suffice to say that I am somewhat disconcerted with his pastoral stylings, having held out hope for a more courageous form of leadership at the Mass and rally.

As I believe someone here suggested, he was NOT the homilist at this event. While he did give some initial remarks favorable to the pro-life movement and he was a gracious host, I was not satisfied with his presence as the leader of the Church in our nation's capital.

I would characterize his involvement presiding over the Mass for Life as "nuanced" and unfortunate. More later - though I doubt that I will be in a more charitable mood - after Rosary and a cup of tea.
