I missed the celebration of the Feast of William Laud yesterday. To do penance, I will reverence the altar and bow at the Holy Name every chance I get and will direct you to Affirming Laudianism.
Affirming Laudianism, much like another organisation in the Anglican Church, does not expect its members to have any firm beliefs or doctrinal commitments but is solely concerned with:
1. The externals of religion
and
2. Including the ambitious.
Doesn't matter what you believe as long as it "looks pretty".
Sounds like simiolar to Affirming Catholicism.
It's a bit of a jest, if you read the piece on Laud himself. "Affirming" he was not.
Yeah, I looked around the site some more after I posted and decided it was a satire. Too bad that the way the world and the church have declined that even something said in jest can be taken for reality without batting an eye.
I know Laud wasn't affirming, he was a True Believer.
