Charity is the first principle of the Knights of Columbus and, throughout its 125 year history, the Order has worked to help those who are suffering and in need. Last year, Knights of Columbus donated more than 64 million hours of volunteer time and $139 million to charity. |
This year, the Order is airing a Christmas TV spot (Broadband or Dial-up ) on networks in the U.S. and Canada, encouraging viewers to join with the Knights in helping children in need. You may already have a favorite charity, or you may wish to consider one or more of the charities supported by the Knights of Columbus.
The menu at right allows you to find a listing of Knights-supported charities benefiting children in your state or province, and provides addresses and Web links for each. |

National and international charities benefiting children and supported by the Knights include a special Philippines Typhoon Relief Fund, established by the Order in early December in the wake of super typhoon Durian. This powerful storm, which battered the island of Luzon at the end of November with heavy rains and winds of 140 miles (225 kilometers) per hour, caused landslides and flooding that destroyed or damaged at least 250,000 homes. More than 1,300 people are dead or missing in the wake of the storm, and many children are among the survivors who lost their homes, their possessions and in some instances, their parents.Other National and International Charities Supported by the Knights |

Please FReepmail me if you'd like to be added to or removed from the KofC ping list.
I know we collect balls and bears for children at our Church. We will probably have close to 900 sit down meals (includes a few takeouts too.)
The balls and bears are for the children.
Please notify me via FReepmail if you would like to be added to or taken off the Catholic Action Ping List.
Can any of you help?
Thanks for the info.
Our holiday charities were St. Kolbe Novena, Joined some freinds and bought a water buffulo for a Thai family and locally Angel Annon. which helps the disabled in such things as making ramps into their homes, WC access vans ect. and that charity is right in our lil county.
So we gave Global, Catholic and Local. : )
BTW I support those who have not given yet to give to the Knights of Columbus wonderful group of Catholic volenteers.
I bought my MIL a goat for an oversees family one year.
They are the type of people that only give to charity as a tax shelter.
I thought she was going to choke but my kids loved it! They made up stories of the family that received the gift. They even named the goat!
"I bought my MIL a goat for an oversees family one year."
Oh, how I wish I had the nerve to do this!! I'm afraid that would be the end of what civility there is left between my mil and I! I'd almost do it just to see the look on her face!!! Not very Catholic of me, is it? *sigh*
Let me know if you are interested in a Thai Water Buffulo....any vet care is covered and any offspring must be passed on to another needy family.
It is a loving thing to do.
Way better than buying a Star for her as there are a limitless numbers of those and a star can't plow the land.
If you ever lose your divine nature and succumb to complete dark human nature you could sell your MIL to a poor Thia family /just kidding.
ROTFL. You are my hero.

If you want on (or off) this Catholic and Pro-Life ping list, let me know!
Do IT!!!!!
Get the kids involved early. Have them name the animal, make up stories, tell them how the children of the family were starving before they got your animal, make it big!
Then when she opens the card (they provide a card that explains your gift), you and her grandbabies can look in wide eyed wonder at any bad reactions she might have.
I can tell you that this was the gift that kept on giving. Not only did a needy family get a gallon of goat's milk every day but I had the happy memory of the look on her face with me every Christmas!
I should have gotten her a dozen chicks this year, but I think the shock only works once.
And if you can't bring yourself to do it, at least you can dream about it! Merry Christmas, FRiends!

LOLOLOL!
They wouldn't take mine, I'm sure.
Please FreepMail me if you want on or off my Pro-Life Ping List.
I agree what a wonderful gift.
I just got my reciept today and I SEE they do chickens, goats, heifers or a mixed group ect.
The lil (childrens) story book (quick glance) that comes with the reciept is a great thank you gift that can be shared at Christmas when explaining what your/the family gave.
I may do this next year. I'm afraid the Christmas budget is on empty already! However, it would have been perfect. The kids and I are reading 'Water Buffalo Days' for part of our geography of Vietnam. They love it! Here's a question for you. I'm assuming that a buffalo could be bought at any time of the year and not just at Christmas, is that correct? I may have to copy down the info and maybe in the spring or early summer we would be able to do this. It would mean a lot to them!
(I would never sell the MIL to anyone...I'm not that cruel!) :o)
They wouldn't want mine, either! LOL~
Yes anytime of the year and for lower gifts goats or chickens.
What my freinds did was ask all of us to pitch in for 1 water buffulo so it made it do able.
I hear ya on the budget. But having no lil ones it was nice to give to global down to local community for the Celebration of the Birth of Jesus.
I thought about our local rehab for the elderly and those who have no one so I sent all the extra Christmas cards over to them.
Giving clothes to them is worthless as they get lost in the wash process so I contacted the gal who goes in and cuts hair there and bought 2 wash, set and style for a couple of the ladies that they felt would really love a little foo foo.
Happen to see her in another town and she said it was a great idea and would be put to good use for the two ladies the center had in mind.
God is good in how he connects all of us when we all need love and share.
What organization do you go through?
