The rich young ruler thought he had kept the law, and Christ just cranked it up until the ruler broke.
It's quite easy not to steal my neighbor's lawnmower. Piece of cake. But wait! I am told I am to love my neighbor as myself.
I don't know of anyone I love as myself on a consistent basis. I've broken the law. I'm screwed.
But you know what? As far as God is concerned I am pure, I have never sinned! I am perfectly rightous! That is the promise made to me.
