remain as full members of the Anglican Communion

I question whether that's just delaying the inevitable. I will be surprised if Canterbury doesn't follow exactly the same path as ECUSA has. It seems like it's mostly there already.

Of course, maybe someday the "Anglican Communion" will have to break with the Church of England. ;-)

From what I understand, the majority of bishops and priests in the English Anglican church are indeed very liberal--however the single most active and numerous part of the laity are actually evangelicals.

While indifferent (and mostly very inactive) members fill the rolls of TCE, they're the ones who don't go to church. Consequently, evangelicals have more power than their total numbers would indicate.

If it came to losing ECUSA, or the (other) former colonies (which make up 80% of the Anglican communion worldwide), I'm sure the Church of England would dump ECUSA.
