I read this years ago at a Civil War conference and at that time was told it was satire. Guess you found that out on your own before I burst your bubble. ;)

I wondered about the words pajamas and instructions to turn off the lights. Seems in those days men wore nightshirts and most homes would have had kerosene lamps or gas lighting.

But still enjoyed it as satire.

Humor?

Actually, I find it pathetic. Really ... I feel sorry for the woman. And her husband. And anyone who ever took her advice seriously.

If in fact, this is bogus, I was part of the collateral damage when you got hoist by your own petard ... bummer.

"By their tenth anniversary many wives have managed to complete their child bearing and have achieved the ultimate goal of terminating all sexual contacts with the husband. By this time she can depend upon his love for the children and social pressures to hold the husband in the home."

Nothing new here.

The above article is not fiction.

This article was exposed as a satire on FR a while back - but it's still funny.

Saw this years ago -- It's a parody. No evidence of it's truth from the time.
