I don't disagree with you. But getting some sort of slogan out there will help, don't you think.

Pelosi is our ticket to defeating the dimocrats in '08!! That's what my husband (in different terms) last night as we were watching returns. (As an aside, Salvation, I thought it might interest you to know that I am considering becoming an Oblate of St. Benedict. Pray for me as I make my discernment!)

I don't really begrudge a Crystal Cathedral, per se.
IN IT'S PLACE IF
All the other higher priorities are also getting due addressing.
I think often, they don't.
That's the problem. There are much higher priorities than the megachurches and the like. All too often they become sunday morning social clubs. The times I've visited them, more often than not after the service is over (usually a very generic service), I hear discussions about their kids' grades or football scores or predictions, who is driving what, what hair stylist they are using, etc. You don't hear people talking about the serious issues that face Christians, and if you bring them up, people get uncomfortable and change the subject.
I'm one of those types that thinks a good shade tree or a 100 year old ramshackle church is just as good as these multi-million dollar behemoths.
To: Salvation
Can readily agree with that. But I think it needs more pointed punch than that one. Prayerfully pondering . . .
Needs to be potent and educational but likely to be used.
Humorous would be better.
Must be true. . . . at least a truism.

Too true. Though there may be a few years of reprieve for some pseudo peace and revival . . . probably after Israel gets trounced seriously in the next ME war.

From Faith and Family email:

Rev. Rob Schenck, President of Faith and Action
Read Rev. Schenck's Blog
|
Rev. Rob Schenck, president of the religiously conservative National Clergy Council and its affiliate, Faith and Action in the Nation's Capital, released this statement today as election results continue to be reported: "While pro-life, pro-family and pro-acknowledgement of God Americans are disappointed this morning in election outcomes, there is a silver lining in this otherwise dark election cloud. Democrats, who historically have opposed the sanctity of life, the sanctity of marriage and the public acknowledgement of God, nonetheless chose some moral conservatives among their ranks. This lean toward a more conservative Democratic Party is a good thing. There has been need for a moral reformation within the party. While last night's elections don't cure the moral problem in the core of the Democratic Party, it may moderate their previously and ardently pro-abortion, anti-marriage and radically secularist agenda. A good sign yesterday were the seven clear victories on state amendments defining marriage as between one man and one woman, and the likely passage of another when votes are fully counted. On the gloomy side, having a speaker of the house--the third person in constitutional succession to the president--who is a radical pro-abortion, pro-homosexual agenda, European-like secularist does make our mission of cultural moral reform difficult. The National Clergy Council, and its lay affiliate Faith and Action, prayerfully recommits itself to being a strong, unapologetic Christian witness to moral truth on Capitol Hill and in every state capital. With faith in God, confidence in the Gospel and great hope for America, we renew our mission to challenge Capitol Hill with biblical truth and change the nation one policymaker at a time! Today our ministry team sits in on two of the most critical sanctity of life cases to be heard at the Supreme Court since the 1973 Roe v. Wade opinion opened the blood-gates of abortion. Outside the Court our ministry partners will hold a prayer vigil and rally. In the end, our confidence is not in parties, politicians or judges and justices, but in a God who "changes not." He has preserved His people through terrible periods of ungodly barbarism, fierce persecution and satanic attacks. He will preserve his remnant again! Hallelujah! Now, back to the battle! Jesus said we must work while it is yet day, for night comes when no man can work! Let's get back to work to the glory of God!" |

That is a heresy.
Christians are not called to altruism. They are called to believe.
Socialism and altruism fails every time it is tried. If you have a choice of following your religious teachings, and following the teachings of altruism and socialism, I hope you make the correct choice.

Yes, I'm against socialism.
In terms of altruism . . . generic secular so called altruism is a sham that peters out pretty quick.
However, God's Grace--in and through Jesus The Christ--is incredibly altruistic. And, He does call us to His standard of Love.
Still . . . don't work; don't eat; And a workman is worthy his hire.
