Why should it even matter if what he said is true and the result of honest scholarship? Because you are trying to create the appearance of a contradiction within orthodox Catholicism. If Sullivan's book lacks the nihil obstat (and I suspect that it does), then your case for a contradiction within orthodox Catholicism is obviously deficient.
