Rated PG for potentially offensive content, no doubt.

Hey, anything on the Religion forum is rated at least PG. Protect thine eyes from such potential offense. Or listen and learn what this Pastor teaches his flock.

I woulda pinged the GPRL folks, but for the potential for stepping on toes. Baptism is one of few topics that separates the Reformed Saints. But we agree that God is a merciful God, and will forgive those other ill taught sects who follow MOST of the proper doctrines... :o)

I think we ALL agree that water is essential for baptism... it's the method of application that is in debate :>)

For instance: baptism by firetruck? (Not a preferred method for infants baptism, I hope...)

Too tame...I prefer the method proposed in the movie "Scrooged": Baptize the entire Zulu nation by helicopter water canon.

One of my pastors commented, "If Baptism were the mere application of water, we'd be soaking people by helicopters!"

Yep. John the Baptist was such a cowardly fellow....out there "shaking like a reed in the wind."

Well, his choice of food was different, that's for sure.

Wild honey I'm OK with.

What about that "reed shaking in the wind" business, though?

What about JB's life would you call cowardly?

I would not call him cowardly at all. He stood up to Herod.

Maybe it was in reference to his skinny body with no fat to heat him up?

What? You don't munch the occasional Locust? Dip them in chocolate... yum.

Soooo....the crowds went out to see a skinny, sickly guy?? (reed shaking in wind)

Doesn't strike me as a likely interpretation.

Wasn't JB a son of a priest?

Wouldn't that make him a priest?

Who said he was sickly? :>)
He was eating protein and carbs. Very healthy to me. A lot better than the fat I ate tonight.

Not an interpretation, just a supposition.

Yes, he was the son of a preacher man :>)

***Soooo....the crowds went out to see a skinny, sickly guy?? ***

Look at what we watch on TV! People will be entertained by anything. What else did they have going for them? Camel races?

I don't think they went out to see a guy on a healthy protein diet?

What did they go out to see?

Some guy baptizing folks???

Nope.

They went out to see a prophet.
