You tell yourself that you are us. You so much want to be us.

God tells us that those who trust in Christ have been made near to the commonwealth of Israel.

"Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh--who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands-- that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ." (Eph. 2:11-13)

The promise to Abraham was that God would make him the father of many nations. The culmination of the promise was the coming of the Messiah of Israel, Jesus of Nazareth, Who made two people into one.

The Jewish disciples of Jesus in the 1st century surely saw this reality. They testified, as Jesus did, that Abraham's hope was in Christ Himself.

"Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad." (John 8:56)

"Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law. Or is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also, since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law." (Rom. 3:28-31)

"For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God." (1 Cor. 1:22-23)

"For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free--and have all been made to drink into one Spirit." (1 Cor. 12:13)

And we don't want to be you.

The real question is, do you wish to be counted among the true offspring of Abraham? The only way that can happen is to come to faith in Christ and receive the promises made to Abraham through God's Seed, even Jesus Himself.

My point remains.

And you and those who believe as you do can pose and posture and be pretenders with all your "proof". I find the compliment extraordinary that you so much want to be us.

The only problem occurs when- as happened often over 2000 years- those of you sharing the same religious fervor, believing that you have replaced us, decide that you can't really pretend to be us as long as we are present and eternal and prove the truth by our existence. That's when you have frequently decided that you must get rid of us physically.

And yet we are still here. We are and will always be Israel. And you are not.
