I have no problem with what she said except that the Bible was written by Catholics. While I suppose I get her meaning, I disagree with that. They were Jews, pure and simple.

I am very sorry to read that Patty gets such vicious responses. I am not a Catholic, but I sure don't think it shows any Christian love to treat people that way. There are saved in all Churches, and someday we will have to answer for how we treated each other.

I apologize. My brother may be an anti-Catholic who has no use for is Catholic family (there are many of us, as he is the one who became Baptist) but he isn't nearly as hateful as her brother. Prayers for healing for him.

It's amazing what grief so many converts to the Catholic Church have had to endure. At least they don't throw us to the lions anymore.... I mean, at least not at the moment anyway.
But, tomorrow is another day.

Ok, the New Testament was written by Catholics, but the entire Bible was preserved by them.

Wander if you will, to some of the faster growing alternative religious groups, Unity, for example... Any Protestant denomination would be happy to have 1/4 the Sunday attendance that the typical parish has.
You can't judge a parish by the attendance at coffees or Bible studies. There are as many ways to serve Christ and His Church in the world as there are people.
Nevertheless, Mass attendance has diminished over the years, due mainly, IMO, to poor catechesis, liturgical abuses, and pop culture.

The Counter-Reformation was the Catholic response to the Protestant Reformation, including but not limited to the Council of Trent, the Inquisition, and the Index. The Spanish Inquisition predated the Reformation by several years, and was not primarily directed at Protestants.
What other Inquisition are you thinking of?

This must be another Catholic only thread.Nope. I intended it as a reminder to all that while apostate priests and nuns can leave the Church for TULIP territory, quality people flee that territory to come home to the Church all along.

I believe God is soverign in the salvation of individuals, but I don't think of myself as a tulip person. As far as quality of people, that's an interesting thing. What do you mean by that?
